Dark Brotherhood Armor Replacer Expanded

Post » Wed May 26, 2010 8:41 am

This mod changes a few things regarding the Dark Brotherhood. It changes their armour, adds some weapons, and makes the notices in the journals a bit different. However when installing it they give you the option to choose different colors for your assassin outfit. I initially just went with the "darker colors" choice since it was dark red and black.

Now that I've seen what it looks like on my screen and in game and all that, I kind of want to go back to the original black outfit. So I re-downloaded the plugin and did an overwrite of everything without including the files needed to change the color expecting I'd just get my black clothes back. Upon loading, I get red and black colored one.

Annoyed by this I check the download files and match them up deleting every file in my directory that has to do with them. I even deleted the Esp files. Upon doing that I started the game up, saw the warning saying I don't have the same files as before and went on. When it loaded I was greeted with my character in normal Dark Brotherhood clothes. Happy seeing some progress I save the game and exit. Re-download the files, install again without choosing any colors and turn the game back on. Lo and behold Red and Black once again.

Is there something I'm missing here? Some other file I'm supposed to delete or something? It won't let me turn the outfit back to normal no matter what I do. Please help?

Almost forgot the link to the mod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4070

The mod isn't just a straight-up replacer when it comes to appearance - the .esp does change the paths for the Dark Brotherhood armor, so if you want all the changes except the armor you will need to edit the .esp. The easiest way to do that, I think, would be in Morrowind Enchanted Editor, to remove all changes made to the armor ground meshes and body parts.

Damn, I should've been more specific when I explained this, lol.

When I first installed the game I chose the http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4070/1141793978_fullres.jpg texture option. Upon seeing it in game I didn't like it much and wanted to go to this mods http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4070/1141793945_fullres.jpg. Upon deleting and re-installing the mod and all folders associated, I was greeted with the http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4070/1141793978_fullres.jpg texture once again.

Evan after un-installing. Turning the game on so I get the http://members.shaw.ca/rado907/armor/light/mor-darkbroarmor.jpg and then installing the mods original files without choosing the "Extra" Folders optional textures, I am still greeted with http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4070/1141793978_fullres.jpg outfit. Why won't it let me just go to the http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4070/1141793945_fullres.jpg? Is there any way to fix this or am I doomed to have this current one with no chance of it changing?

After uninstalling the DB mod be sure to clean your save with Wrye Mash or EE. This will remove the references to the DB armor from your save, which is most likely causing your problem. Then you should be able to re-install the DB replacer with the default textures. :)

Yeah.....I never installed Wrye Mash or anything. Upon start up I opened up "Data Files" and handled everything there. No clue what EE is either. Is there some simple explanation you could offer me on what to do here?

EE is Enchanted editor. :) It's a great tool, but it can have a steep learning curve. Wrye Mash is your best friend. It can be tricky to install but it's worth it. It can change your load order, clean saves, and make installing and uninstalling mods and texture replacers a piece of cake. I highly recommend you invest the time to learn how to use it.

Well after installing Wyre Mash and deleting the mod and re-pairing the game through some option I put the mod back in and start it up and get the same Dark Colors texture. Can someone please try this out and see for themselves maybe? This is really starting to annoy me.

EDIT: Well I feel stupid now...in addition to all folders this mod installs when dropped in the Data Files folder there's two stand alone textures that get thrown in with all my other textures. Finding them and deleting them has let me get back my original black outfit. Thanks for all your help guys. And hey, some good came out of it. I learned of Wyre Mash. =p

Glad to see you got it worked out. :)

Wrye Mash is, imho, the best tool made for MW. Once you learn how to use it, you'll wonder how you ever got by without it. :)
