Actually the term "Emo" comes from a man called Emo Phillips, he was known to be very depressing and a bit of a weirdo so please do some research before you explain the term

Meh. Stereotype. Emo Philips is not to be compared with these present day teenagers who set a bad name for "Emo"

They aren't goth, and what's wrong with black makeup? I liked the dark Dark brotherhood. I won't join them if they make them less darker.

We don't want them less dark, we want them darker.

Didn't look like that earlier though, lol. People complaining that they were too much goth or too much emo.

I definately believe if your cover with the DB is found out you should have a 5k bounty on your head.

That's not the reason kids call themselves emo today, it stands for emotional now.

With the presence of a Dunmer city in Skyrim, maybe some of the Morag Tong survived, and are trying to set up shop. Maybe the Dark Brotherhood doesn't like it...

I hope the random generated quests has good support for Dark Brotherhood. Random noble on vacation in Skyrim (orly?) and someone wants him dead.

Yeah, I really liked the quests in Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood, but many of the characters just felt, I dunno, stupid. The whole cultish thing, and the way they all referred to each other as brother and sister, and their 'praise sithis' and such. And half of them had these annoying voices, like they were trying to sound dark and evil and utterly failing. A bunch of happy go lucky assassins.

After Tribunal I thought they were supposed to be professionals that took up whatever jobs were offered them, I mean, Helseth apparently had no trouble gaining their employ, and I doubt he prayed to anyone for it. Then suddenly they're religious fanatics playing at assassin? They just felt awkward, kind of inconsistent. Either make them serious, professional assassins, or delve entirely into the cult crap (and get good voice actors for it).

I kinda wish there was replacable NPC's, that way you could kill someone, then a new guy would buy his his house or something.

you forgot to add better colleagues. the oblivion DB while humurous were, with exceptions like vicente, a bunch of completely unprofessional mentally unstable rif raff. make them more professional and less hyper religious. i dont mine one or two members killing out of purely religious zealoutry but most people would simply kill because they are psychopaths or they like the money. and the really good psychopaths dont act like psychopaths......they act like normal people to everyone except their victims.

running my own guild no. i like the idea of sending them out to kill noncritical npcs. hiring additional members would be cool.........i think you did that in morrowind for the morag tong on a quest if i remember correctly you had to get a DB member to switch sides.

"Emo Philips (born February 7, 1956) is an American entertainer and comedian born in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove.[1] Much of his standup comedy stems from the use of paraprosdokians and garden path sentences spoken in a wandering falsetto tone of voice and a confused, childlike delivery of his material to produce the intended comic timing in a manner invoking the 'wisdom of children' or the idiot savant."

Not sure Emo Phillips has anything to do with emo music.

But yea...Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion felt forced in a lot of ways. Walking around town in daylight dressed like I'm about to kill someone. The cheeriness, which was over the top even if it was intentional so as to not have the "dark, brooding" assassins.

Dark Brotherhood is totally dark because they kick puppies and cut themselves for somethign that isn't even self-aware. I'd rather have cruel, brooding, professional assassins than those puppy-kickers.

This is interesting, from UESP

"Another, perhaps more disputed, theory holds that somewhere in the Second Era some members of the Thieves Guild found it efficacious to strangle the occupant of the house when performing a burglary. The leadership of the Thieves Guild disagreed with this and found it too dangerous for business. As a reaction to this, an unnamed female Guild member founded her very own murder syndicate. When members of the Morag Tong, disgruntled with the Tong’s assassination of Potentate Savirien-Chorak in 2E 431, joined this organization it became officially known as the Dark Brotherhood.[2]

Although the reasons behind the schism might still be nothing but speculation, more is known about the exact date of the formation of the Dark Brotherhood. In 2E 358 a note was found beneath the floorboards of an abandoned house in the Nordic village of Jallenheim. Depicting a war going on between two shadowy organizations, scholars speculate that this note is a rare piece evidence about the war between the Morag Tong and its hated offshoot, the Dark Brotherhood.
"

So not only is the DB a mixture of trained assassin's who originally worshiped Mephala, but also just bloodthirsty thieves. Further more, there is historical precedent for the presence of both DB and Morag Tong in Skyrim.

I would love to recieve more specific assassin/stealth gear and not only a improved dagger. For example you could recieve a grapple hook as a bonus item, which you can use later on to make some specific quest easier. You could also recieve apparel that makes you move more silent etc.

Er...like the Dark Brotherhood armor and Black Hand Robe/Hood that added to your Stealth skill?

Special armour for the Dark Brotherhood is ridiculous. I never understood that in OB. The Brotherhood is suppose to be extremely secretive and running around in special Dark Brotherhood armour is just plain silly. If there is Dark Brotherhood armour people should react accodingly. Scream assassin and call the guards or something....

No kidding, I thought "Dark Brotherhood Armor" was a contender for an award of some sort, and not the kind developers like to get.

"lol nobody knows I'm in teh ebil secret assassin cult, 'coz I'm wearing my Secret Assassin Cult Uniform? lol!"

Also agreed on the general "tone" of the members- I don't think the Purification had as much to do with the traitor as with Lucien realizing what a bunch of chuckleheads he was in charge of. I could see him using Peryite's line myself: "You have found my followers. They are an embarassment to me." They just felt...more parody/satire than serious to me.

All I ask it at the end of the questline you don't become the leader. This goes for all factions, actually.

Remember, it's just a theory. ;) Nobody knows for sure why the Dark Brotherhood splintered, although the more accepted theory is that they split from the Morag Tong for religious differences.

The rank and file psychopaths were no more members of the DB than the tables in the sanctuary. They were just weapons to be used by the leaders.I would expect this to be a fairly standard practice.

Dark Brotherhood is NOT emo.

I don't know where you guys keep getting this from.

Just incase you guys aren't on the same page, emo = emotional.

Everyone in the Dark Brotherhood is happier than a carebear.
Anyway.

Death to the Brotherhood.

Morag Tong babeh.

Happiness is an emotion.

It's not so much that they were emo, they just had the same mentality of a little kid killing insects. They had no concept of what they were doing, no regrets. They were just all happily serving the Night Mother and Sithis. This is why they lacked depth. None of them were professional or particularly smart. You'd think a guild of professional assassins would be a little more hesistant to blindly accept some quasi-religious tenets based around a "family".

Cool quests though.

I like all of these ideas. Will make the Dark Brotherhood more fun than Oblivion's (which I didn't really like).
