Dark Brotherhood quests are bad...

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 9:32 am

Hi,

[Spoiler ahead]

I just started Dark brotherhood quests and I have to say that them are not very good. Ok the back story is interesting, but the quests... Why killing innocent people?

I saved before joining them, so I will be able to kill Astrid and destroy them all after, but quests could be much better. Like we could kill people doing bad stuffs in Tamriel (a bit like Thief Guild where they steal rich and bad people). Now we just kill random NPC and the emperor... Why? Because the Mother want?

My character is suppose to be a good guy...

Thx

PS:

Also, is it true that Cicero disappear from the game If we destroy Dark Brotherhood?

The Dark Brotherhood kills whomever the person that contacted the Brotherhood wants.

All my girls are "good" when it comes to "leaning". And if they ever get to that point, they all wipe the DB - and they all feel as if they've done Tamriel a service by doing so.

Ha ha ha! Well, who said the player character had to be good huh? You CAN be good, but baddies are so much more interesting to play...ask any actor!

Plus there is nothing especially 'good' or kindly about the Thieves Guild....they are robbing people of their hard earned....look at the shadow marks on the vendors shops....honest traders are targeted by TG operatives. The main reason they don't rob the poor is not altruistic....it is because if your going to risk detection, then its better to make that risk worthwhile.

Now then innocent people being killed? What is innocent? They upset somebody to get that contract on their heads eh! Even poor hapless brainless, living in his families ruined farm house across the river...well...I hated dropping him too....so did Adella. But you don't know him, or what he or his family may have done to warrant that contract. Maybe he ain't innocent at all! The point is you just don't know. As for the other seemingly innocent victims....maybe some of them are. But to an assassin they are marks, targets....its just business.

If Bethesdsa had made DB quest for goodies it would just be more "peoples champions" like the Companions....but all Ninja'd up.

Besides my girl (The Contessa) loved it....sick cow (I keep telling her about it, but she don't listen)

I suggest if your char is only to be good.....then just don't do the DB questline.....thats why its called a Role Playing game....different quest styles are available for chars of many different roles. Get creative maybe and change your chars pov mid game....that way you can feel ok about doing broader stuff.....its up to you!

But there is nothing wrong with the DB story.....its just an alternative If you want it!

Thank you all.

Year maybe there is a reason to kill those people... but Its sad.

Like the story and Cicero, but dont like the quests... Too easy?

Seem that a lot of people prefer DB from Oblivion...

A group of assassins are 'bad' people? Who'd have thought it....

I am one of the few people who actually prefer Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood over Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood. I think the story line is more interesting and I think the characters too are more vivid and interesting.

I'd venture to say that most of us roleplay. We generally restrict ourselves to doing a quest only if it fits a particular character. Remember: it is not you who are killing these people, it is your character. I am pretty close to being a pacifist in real life, but I regularly play assassins who murder for money or for Sithis. As others have pointed out, this is what the Dark Brotherhood does. They don't judge. They perform a service.

If killing innocent people makes a quest line "bad" in your eyes, then you should probably think about doing other quests instead.

Yep... I started DB quests to get Xbox achievements and see how I like it, but I will certainly reload the save in the shack and destroy DB. I understand that the story is good and well made, but not my kind of quests... But thats personal.

I'm ready to kill and murder everyone too, but not for the same reason as Dark Brotherhood.

Upon reading the title I was expecting complaints about how how the Dark Brotherhood was implemented in Skyrim in contrast to guilds in former games, having fewer services and a short questline.

But you're arguing the Dark Brotherhood is bad (and I mean bad as in poorly designed by Bethesda) because they kill innocents? I think that's the whole point.

Why your 'good guy' character even thought of joining a guild with a name like the Dark Brotherhood is beyond me.

Dark Brotherhood quests are bad because they're boring. In Oblivion you could poison a mark's food, drop a stuffed deer head on them, kill all the guests at a party one by one while deflecting blame onto the remaining guests. There were bonuses for remaining undetected, using a particular method or doing a bit extra. Skyrim = follow the pointer, stab/bash target, return to base.

Nic, I'm with you. My character's happy to kill baddies and loves putting evil to the bow, but her bow isn't for indiscriminate hire so the DB is out of the question. Fortunately, there is an endless supplies of baddies to kill without any 'help' from the DB.

In fact, I'm glad that in Skyrim, they 'come after' you, giving a good excuse to take them out.

Again, it's all business. Doesn't matter if they're good or bad. It's all about making money.

Obviously if there's a contract for an "innocent" NPC to be killed by an agent of the DB then they're not so good are they? Someone wants them dead for a reason, hence the contract.

Again it's business.

* Reverse pick pocket poison

* frenzy other NPC's

* perfect bow shot

* perfectly timed head removal with Ax, ie not getting caught doing it.

* and of course sneak/ stab

I'm sure there's other ways I'm not thinking of.

I fall into the....I am a good guy IRL......but my alter ego personality....'The Contessa'....is I am ashamed to say quite sadistic at times. Not all the time, thank goodness, but she loves to kill bandits.... slowly and painfully! I think she needs help....but she won't be judged by the likes of me or thee!

So for her the DB is just party time :blink:

Still can't help loving her though.....she always kind to beggars, adopts homeless waifs and gives to the temple of Mara.

She's complex

Oh yeah? Well, what if my dream quest is to build a string of Fried Chicken joints? I mean, you can kill poor Narfi, or lugbuk (spl) the bard, or even the emperor, and nobody really cares, but just kill ONE lousy chicken and see what you get... a horde of insane villager with torches looking to burn you at the stake...

...and just as bad, if you DO manage to kill a chicken and survive, hot wings are out of the question because chickens in Skyrim don't HAVE wings... One of these days I'm going to build an evil character that does nothing but slaughter wingless chickens!

Yeah, doesn't fulfill my luv quest dreams either......building my harem of all the best npc babes in Skyrim.

Trying to get up courage to ask Voldsea Giryon out for a drink. I don't normally go for Dunmer, but she is hot!

(Hope the Contessa doesn't get wind of that or I'm dead meat)

If you join the Darkbrotherhood then your a Assassin , a gun for hire. Assassins are about business , they are the ones not afraid to pull the trigger so to say. the people you go to when you want someone taken care of....permanently.

Good or bad is up to perspective. Also only way in is by murdering someone anyways.

Only complaint I have is that Astrid and the rest are so campy and overly dramatic. I would rather they had been more cunning and professional.

And their casual dialogs so repetitive...Ive heard only a thousand times what a boon being a child vampire is...NOBODY CARES!

I would have loved the Dbh if it wasnt for the dumb dramatic show and the fact there arent enough quests in their main story , i would have liked to feel as if i had earned the right to be listener and the right to kill the emperor . Instead it actually felt to happen way to fast.

But I still join them , i think Oblivion had a longer questline but not sure , seemed better though.
