Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 8:33 pm

So. I know this has most likely been done before but do you want to see the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim?

As far as i know, it hasn't been 100% verified but somewhat hinted at and 'sorta' verified by some unreliable sources.
Please correct me if im wrong.

Thanks. :D

If by "unreliable sources" you mean Todd Howard and Ashley Cheng then yes, they have both confirmed Dark Brotherhood.

Not only do I think they should be in, it's been confirmed already months ago that the ARE in. So.... yeah.

When and where?
I've heard them suggest it a million times as Bethesda is known to do but i haven't seen them flat out say ' Yes. The Dark Brotherhood will be in Skyrim '.

No. I want a guild more professional. Not lunatics.

There was a reason why you had to "purge" the guild in Oblivion...

In Daggerfall they were the best source for information, as they are a very large and well organised guild.
And off course they are crazy, that's pretty mandatory for anyone who becomes an assassin.

Also, they didn't really came our right because the atmosphere in Oblivion was a bit too soft for them to fit in imo.
They would fit a lot better in the darker, brutal world that we will hopefully discover in Skyrim.

This thread is useless. Dark Brotherhood was confirmed to be in Skyrim several months ago by several magazines.

I would prefer the Morag Tong to show up, or the Crimson Scars but DB is good too.

They are confirmed. I hope the Morag Tong or at least some other assassin guild is also in to provide competition and rivalry to the DB.

That would be pretty freaking sick. It would be cool to get a real fight with some pro assassin's. Instead of the old.
Bandit: I shall smite thee by hitting thee with me sword and then taking a few steps back only to smite thee again after making an angry face!
( Cause i'm sure thats what everyone would do in that circumstance ) x)

To be honest, I didn't find their quest-line to be any more enthralling than the other guilds, but I do like the organization.

Meh, I don't really like the whole "Lunatic religious cult" thing. I'd rather just be a normal assassin, without the whole "praise the lord Sithis!" bit. Seriously, Sithis is almost as boring as the Nine Divines :/.

I just loved the assassinations themselves. Felt like i could go about killing each one in many different ways. I could just go all crazy orc 2-H sword on the boat dude and storm onto it.. or hide in the crate stealth my way through and do it all ninja-like. The actual story line was okay.
It has me expecting some awesome DB quests from Skyrim.

Just as long as the Dark Brotherhood turns away from the "Emo puppy killer goth cult" that it was in Oblivion, and back into the more business minded side that split from the Morag Tong.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/daggerfall-brothers-darkness

"...The important distinction between the Dark Brotherhood and the Morag Tong was that the Brotherhood was a business as much as a cult. Rulers and wealthy merchants now used the order as an assassin's guild. The Brotherhood gained the obvious benefits of a profitable enterprise, as well as the secondary benefit that no longer could rulers actively persecute them. "

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/oblivion-fire-and-darkness
"Most scholars believe that the birth of the Dark Brotherhood, the secular, murder-for- profit order of assassins, was as a result of a religious schism in the Morag Tong. Given the secrecy of both cults, it is difficult to divine the exact nature of it, but certain logical assumptions can be made."

"...in order to exist, the Morag Tong must have appealed to the highest power in Morrowind, which at that time, the Second Era, could only have been the Tribunal of Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec. Mephala, whom the Tong worshipped with Sithis, was said to have been the Anticipation of Vivec. Is it not logical to assume that in exchange for toleration of their continued existence, the Tong would have ceased their worship of Mephala in exchange for the worship of Vivec?

The Morag Tong continues, as we know, to worship Sithis. The Dark Brotherhood is not considered a religious order by most, merely a secular organization, offering murder for gold. I have seen, however, proof positive in the form of writs to the Brotherhood that Sithis is still revered above all."

But I'm a CRAZY cultist, you see! Not a LUNATIC cultist. Those lunatics are just plain bonkers. And they actually LIKE adventurers, which is just strange.

I actually liked the story line for the Dark Brotherhood near the end, I just didn't like how they needed to worship some god (who acts just like the Nine, meaning he doesn't act at all) to be considered an assassin. If they include the Dark Brotherhood, I would very much like if they included at least one other assassin's guild.

yes, for when i eventually make an assassin, and also you should be able to do the ritual and place a hit of your own. make them less crazy and more professional too please, and make their base much more secret and less obviously a 'secret hideout'. seriously, in oblivion, their base was pretty much. the only abandoned house in any of the cities. even before i knew about the DB, i knew that house was a secret base of some kind.

I'm not sure if the they would be able to put the Morag Tong in Skyrim, I read that they are largely restricted to operation within Morrowind. But it also states that their executioners will track a target all around Tamrel, so maybe they can have a few outposts in Skyrim that receives orders from Morrowind.

The province of Morrowind no longer exists, the seas are boiling and the land has been destroyed. Most Dunmer fled north or to skyrim and those that remained were slaughtered by the Argonians who invaded shortly after. The House Structure is gone, with it goes the Morag Tong.

I wasn't aware of that, even better a reason to have the Morag Tong in Skyrim. It would be pretty cool to have both the Morag Tong and the Dark brotherhood, considering that their both enemies, maybe both quest lines for them could conflict with each other (I think that's the word I'm looking for) IE, the fighters guild and the blackwood company in Oblivion, except being able to join either side.

Except it still doesn't make sense. The Morag Tong was headquartered in Vivic, there is nothing left there now, when the Moon continued on its course it wiped out the entire city. The leadership is dead, most of the members are dead, the Morag Tong simply doesn't exist anymore. Besides even if they did exist , what purpose would they have considering that the houses are gone and that their government that allowed their existence is gone? The Morag Tong was not some Assassins Guild, they only accepted legally approved contracts and being outlawed everywhere besides Morrowind would make moving to Skyrim a big issue.
