Dark Brotherhood Styled Quests

Post » Thu Aug 12, 2010 10:35 pm

Despite the silliness, New Vegas will still be edgy. In fact, Obsidian are re-introducing a shade of darkness to the fabric of Fallout that sticks the knife in far deeper than Bethesda did. There are moribund tales such as the one that has you working out who within a small community has sold someone’s wife into slavery.

Characters such as Vulpes Inculta of Caesar’s Legion, meanwhile, simply ooze menace as they bark at you – in this case amid the crucified bodies that pepper the “town of [censored]s” that was once called Nipton. This charming character, complete with a wolf-pelt hat and his own line in the massacre of the innocents, could even become a missiongiver in the true Dark Brotherhood sense, if you don’t mind your karma taking a notable hit.

Thank you for foregoing your life in search of details I and a few others do not have the time or patience to search for for, your lack of a social life is a modest blessing in disguise for some of us.

What? Was that mean? Sorry to be rude but I couldn't tell if you were trying to insult this person who you don't know.

An interesting read. Fallout 3 wasted a great deal of potential for more indepth questlines, especially evil ones. For instance after blowing up Megaton for Tenpenny I expected to become his hitman and be sent off on a series of assassinations, considering that removing the blight that was Megaton was just the beginning of his vision. But no. No more quests. All done. That there were no follow up quests (with the exception of bringing sheet music for Agatha) in the entire game was a significant and lasting disappointment for me.

I concur. FO3 was quite limiting when it came to evil questlines. While there were a few, there were not nearly enough to keep me occupied and satisfied, especially since one of them involved

enslaving someone who you had probably already killed in a Moira's Wasteland Survival Guide Quest
I realize that there were quite a few NPC's who could be enslaved, but when I created a slaver character, I had serious trouble not only getting the Mesmatron to actually work on people, but also on the few I actually enslaved, most died before they got back to Paradise Falls, no matter what I did. in the end, with so few actual "evil" quests, and no evil faction to join to counter-balance the BoS, other than the slavers, (which unlike Fallout 2 had no karma hit associated with the now non-existant facial tattoo) meant I mostly killed NPC's to play evil. Every town pretty much wiped out, excluding Paradise Falls, for shopping, and Rivet City, since most NPC's there were immortal. The most disappointment I experianced was when I realized, late in the game that

you could not actually join the Enclave, despite taking a mission from them if you so chose, you simply joined the BoS anyway and pretended you were good til the end when you either added the FEV to the water, or blew up the citadel

I am looking forward to joining evil factions and hopefully completing New Vegas as an actually evil character, not someone who is only evil when there are evil quests, and has to be a "hero" the rest of the time if they want any experiance.

I hope I get Poisoned Apples, as both an easter egg and as a great usable silent weapon.

Talking of silent weapons. Does anyone know now that we have Super Stimpaks again, can we use them to dish out death by overdose like we could before??

I haven't read any info on them except their returning due to the Classic pack preorder giving away 2 of them in the beginning. Not sure if they'll will be fatal though.

But its a good idea of how they work like poisen apples.

Maybe the side-effect won't stack like it did before. :(
But it would be awesome to have in.

Would be kinda weird though.
"Hey let me use these 50 super stimpacks on you!"
"Hmmm, well... They are stimpacks"
/player sets wait 24 hours
NPC "Hey, hey are you all right?"
"Why are you just standing there?"
"Hello?"
"..."
"Bye then.. urk!"
/player snaps out of it.
"Hah, you dead!"

"Having the Awareness perk helps, as you can see how much health the target has. Simply divide his or her current health by 9 then round up. The number you reach is how many super stimpaks you should use to kill your victim. Stick the stimpaks in one of your weapon slots and use the applicable number of stimpaks on the victim. After waiting 2 minutes, they should die from the latent damage (9 points per pak)."

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Stimpak

So ideally we'd need the awareness perk back too :D

All we know atm is that Vulpes hands out the quests, I doubt he can do that from beyond the grave. So do the wasteland a favor and keep him alive, let him continue cleaning up the place! :hubbahubba:

Yeah

I'll just keep ceasers incharge of nipton unless NCR puts something more shiny on the table.

No, I just retain information at a level you will never be able to comprehend.
Back on topic, I'm so glad about this.
I'm making my first playthrough NCR just because it looks like the most boring faction, and It will be interesting enough to learn the world.
