Dark circle on the night sky

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:29 pm

I'm having a partial dark circle on the night sky, http://www.bluemelon.com/photo/18688/1452441.jpg. The night sky within the circle is darker than the rest. I wonder what might cause it? I'm using several mods that affect the night sky: nightsky from Vibrant Weather Texture Replacers, moons from Better Nightsky, nebulae from Night Sky Fire and Ice 3, falling stars from PTFallingStars. Plus All Natural if that might affect it somehow.

If only. That would be cool. Anyway, as the center of the circle is in the general direction of the sunset I throught it might be connected to Beaming Sunglare somehow, but that wasn't it.

Strangely enough, I just had a light half-circle in the daytime sky, much like yours, something I'd never seen before. It seemed to be related to godrays in some way but when I turned around there was a rainbow in the other direction (I had forced clear weather from rain a few minutes prior). This probably doesn't help, but I just found it really peculiar I experienced something unique like that and so similar right after seeing your issue.

Thanks, but I'm not using a rainbow mod - only the ones mentioned in the OP.

Weird. Not using Godrays or indeed any OBGE shaders ATM.

It will are shots of a blind man rather.
1.I hope this is permanent element of view.Otherwise, if it appears from time to time only, especially when interior-exterior transmission is being, it may sign you want too much from your machine.
2. In my opinion you should revert back to vanilla night luminance ,turn off moon phase option and check out result.
3. Maybe "refreshing" some sky mods textures via bain gives something?
Sorry I can't help you more.

I just remembered that one time my entire sky showed up black, and I figured it was due to my vram being all used up (surfaces with textures that fail to load end up black). That could be the case with that section of the sky, but if you're not anywhere near your vram limit, probably not!

Thanks for the tips!

1. Yes, I've noticed it for quite a while but haven't bothered to check into it before now. I do strain my rig generally but it shouldn't be it in this case I think - happens directly when loading a save right outside Frostcrag, which isn't a particularly demanding spot.

2. I already have vanilla night luminance. I do have moon phases normally but turning it off didn't help.

3. Yes, I'll try w/o all mods mentioned in the first post and see what happens.

EDIT: Turned out it was caused by the nebulae from Night Sky Fire and Ice. At least, removing it but keeping everything else fixed the issue.
