The Hollow Expanse was once known as the Great Plains. Even before the Great War, towns were few and far apart here, and now in the post-war world it has become even more desolate. Endless seas of grass and grain have degraded to vast deserts devoid of life.

The Dark Marines trace their origins back to before the war. Their ancestors were the American troops stationed in Fort Dent outside of Toronto, Canada as part of the occupation force in Canada. In time the soldiers had children with the survivors, and raised them to be soldiers as well. The Dark Marines are fully integrated into wasteland society and show hints of tribalism. They wear their gas masks to strike fear into their foes. Decorate their uniforms with bones, feathers, and paint. And regard Fort Dent as their great ancestral home.
The Convoy was made when one day a great beam of light came from the sky and struck the ground with such force that though it landed miles away, the shockwave leveled the ruins of Toronto and made the sky rain ash without end.(This is the death ray from Mothership Zeta that struck this part of the world) Their home now uninhabitable, they repaired as many vehicles as possible and set out for a new home. Praying their carefully guarded stockpile of gasoline would last them long enough. After a year of aimlessly traveling southwest, they find themselves beyond the point of no return in the Hollow Expanse. The Barrens- The largest part of the Hollow Expanse which holds large pockets of radiation, dangerous wildlife, and a rumored pre-war military testing facility.
Dr. Cart's Psychiatric Ward- The descendants of insane patients here have made this building a place of death and despair. Chaos rains supreme in this barbaric facility.
Sniper's Chasm- Two unknown factions here constantly fight for control of the chasm through sniper fire and raids. With no known resources or strategic value, the reason for this fighting remains a mystery.
Vault 316- This Vault was intended to research post-nuclear fauna and eventually, weaponize it. Red Skull Caverns- This ghostly cave got its name from the many animal skulls, especially http://staerk.deviantart.com/art/Ghoul-44025966 and deathclaws, which have been soaked with blood to the point of permanently staining it. No living creature is near this cave for a mile in all directions. Sometimes a huge fire can be seen from a distance, along with hearing inhuman yells and screams?
Acid plains- These plains consist of pools of corrosive acid, and a dense fog which would corrode flesh if you go in unprotected. Its speculated that many mutants make their "home" here.

Personality: Lucas is a soldier's leader. He prides himself of knowing every man's name in his force and is well liked. He will enforce discipline when necessary but is known to be merciful at times. In the thick of battle he is a different man, his anger rising over him he shows no respect to his men. Nevertheless, he gets the job done.
Bio: Lucas Benoit is the final Benoit in the Dark Marines. Since anyone can remember the Benoit's have always taken command for their knack of strategy and war. After Lucas' uncle Anthony died he was the last of the bloodline and promises to make his time count. You will find him at the front lines alongside his troops before you find him at a command headquarters. Still young to Dark Marine standards he still needs to prove his worth to some of the older veterans.
