I don't expect this thread to be super-popular, nor do I think it'll be the usual warm & fuzzy topics I usually post. Matter of fact, as I share my first "secret" with y'all, I actually feel rather bashful about it. I feel like I'm about to pass through a door I shouldn't pass through, yet I need to pass through. I need to be honest. It'll help me, as a gamer, and as a friend to many of you, to be honest.
So here goes.
I got bored today with Oblivion.
I got bored. With TES4. This "secret" hasn't been a secret for long, since I'm sharing it only 2 hours after the incident happened, but my initial feeling was to NOT share this feeling with the group.
I was gaming with a character (whose name will remain anonymous) for about an hour. Found myself going through some lair, and clearly felt that I was 'going through the motions' as I adventured with this character. I knew what to expect, prepared for each enemy which showed up. And that was all. I was going from a zombie here to a ghost there, kinda mowing through the game, automatically playing it, but not really getting as .... uh ... immersed as usual.
But I did the right thing: I stopped. I pushed a few buttons to save the game. And I exited. I didn't 'force' my game. This is something I've always wondered; if I ever get bored with Oblivion, will I force myself to play it, anyways? The answer is clearly "no".
Now, I can foresee all kinds of comments to this. The regulars will perhaps sympathize. But some of you who are new (or lurk but rarely speak publicly) might come back with a comment like "Oblivoin sux, that wy your bord", or something nearly as insensitive. So for anybody who wants to say this, feel free to do so, but also keep in mind that I've been playing this game for nearly 5 years. Five solid years of the Vanilla game. That's longer than I've played any other game. And I've never been bored of TES: 4, not up till today, anyways.
I actually know why I got bored, and some of you who know me well will also know this, as well. I'm about to take a big step, after all, with my gaming. I can already feel a huge shift coming, and although I still will enjoy some aspects of the Vanilla game, I'm also looking forward to new things.
Anyways, enough of my ramble, how about you? Any Dark Secrets you'd like to share? ... it does not have to be current, too, it can be something from the past.

Thank you.
