Is Dark Souls Bigger Than Skyrim?

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 10:22 pm

Alright, you just sold me on Dark Souls. Picking that up ASAP.

I was making the comparison in terms of relative difficulty for a genre - as Ninja Gaiden is to action games, Demon Souls is to RPG's - clearly the RPG is going to be the more complex and difficult game :celebration:

Awesome! You won't regret your purchase. I highly recommend you buy Demon's Souls first though, it's only 20 USD now! :D

WOW

The author says Skyrim has recycled lands and randomly generated Dungeons <<<<<<<<<< How can anyone take this preview seriously?

There is no way it has more content. It took him so long because he died a lot.

I could build a wall of text here, depicting a game that can only be described as a torture-device from Saw, that was left out of the movies because it was simply a bit too inhumane.

However, I'll let someone else do the rambling for me...as rambling tend to be less effective and even less fun in text-form :hubbahubba:

Check it out.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQSCKAPqxoo

Oh and Dark Souls will be even harder...awesome, I'll go wax my groin instead...less pain, more gain!

No. Demon's Souls wasn't small but it wasn't grand either. These games are more challenge than RPG. I mean its in the RPG genre but not the RPG nor dungeon crawl you'd want. A more linear MMOish feel you could argue. It's not an open world RPG ala Skyrim though.

It, and Dark Souls, will fuel a different thirst. Same for Deus Ex: Human Rev. AI that present a non-cheap challenge is the name of the game. Brutal stuff. Playtime is mostly increased through new game +'s and death. But it's fun because when you die it's not because of the usual RPG

Dark Souls looks sort of boring to me. Skyrim will be the winner in my opinion.

Dark Souls is certainly not bigger then Skyrim but I do know which one is the harder game out of the two. Dark Souls wins that title by default, both games will be good although if I was Beth I wouldn't be worried about Dark Souls I'd be more concerned with Reckoning or Dragon's Dogma.

Oh, if I only had a PS3 for their sweet, delicious exclusives... I'm glad Dark Souls is coming out for 360 though!

Apparently Dark Souls is a dense open world though? The way they describe the scale hasn't really come across clearly.

Are you saying Deus Ex HR fuels a different thirst or that its AI is a challenge? Because frankly, I am playing HR on the hardest difficulty but as a stealth character it is almost deliriously easy.

I'm certain he is biased, saying DS has more content cause he died a lot while Skyrim content is not unique and just randomly generated

It isn't even in the same field as Skyrim. They are TOTALLY different games.

Deus Ex HR is way easier then Dark Souls allthough that can be blamed on a candy bar. From what I saw of Dark Souls it's not an open world game allthough you will have plenty of places to explore and get killed.

In all fairness, it was OXM article, and Dark Souls is a PS3 lead title....

I d'ont think it's "proffesional" to compare The elder scrolls to Dark soul's.

Dark souls has his roots in a mix of hardcoe based german roleplay with a bit of japanese rpg style, while the elder scrolls has always focused on a open gameworld where the player can do what he wants and be what he wants.
