Dark Textures in Lighthouse map

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:37 am

I noticed this too. But, It only happened when I mucked around with autoexec settings, and disabled most of the bloom. Thats the thing that made me laugh. The bloom was that intense before, that you couldn't see it! Now that the bloom is (almost) gone for me, I see this horrible dark dirt beneath the grass.

I e-mailed EA support about this and they said it could be related to Windows 7 64 bit and how C2 isnt tested for it (IDK). He said try running as admin (already do), or compatibility mode for 32 bit or XP. Have not tried it yet. Dont think it will work. My brother uses XP 32 bit and my friend Vista 32 bit and both of them experience it too.

Sounds like EA just gave you a generic answer. I doubt this bug is Win7 64bit specific.

OK so I followed their generic advice, and it seems to have worked. I have W7 64 bit, and changed Crysis2.exe to run in compatibility mode for XP SP3. Ive only played a few matches, but each has been on lighthouse, and a few after that and it seems to have worked.

Im aware that others with XP are getting this too. My brother has XP 32 bit and gets the problem, my friend has vista 32 bit and gets the problem.

Crytek please address this in the next patch :(

Same issue here, seems to be extremely widespread but most people probably don't notice it/care

I would think it would matter most in such a great looking game to be brought down visually by a stupid bug like this :(

Same here. I'm playing on extreme + some autoexec.cfg tweaks. Resolution is 1920*1200.

Card: ATI HD 5870
OS: Win 7 64bit

But I didn't have this bug from the beginning. I've played some rounds on that maps before with normal textures. But some games later the map got that ugly dark textures. Not just once. Now I have them all the time.
I don't know why it started and I don't know how to reverse it. :(

Did anyone else try this? Did it work? Also, did anyone else try the beta nvidia drivers?

Ok so the windows XP compatibility thing the EA rep suggested did NOT work. It only worked for a few games then went back to black. :(

The new beta driver from Nvidia did NOT work. Worked for a game then went back to black.

After all that here is what I got again:

I replied to the EA rep and made sure he looks at this thread and asked if he could contact Crytek and make sure they are aware of it. Will post his reply when he e-mails me back.
