Dark Textures in Lighthouse map

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:32 am

It seems that the ground textures are darker than the rest of the map. I discovered this when I compared in-game screenshots to actual screenshots from the Crysis 2 website. Everything else is unaffected, including the 3D grass.

I'm running the game at Extreme and my Resolution is at 1440x900. My graphics drivers are up to date, including everything else on my system.

dear me it is not the texture ca nikel, I recall that on 1 in the crysis sandbox 2, when fesais ca ca, had to reload the texture and shader, thus trying to change the graphic quality and lowest back to extreme, it'll reload the texture and shader

I have the same exactly problem, my thread here:

http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=12294&hilit=texture

Changing the graphics setting to lowest and then back to the highest doesn't fix it, either. Glad I'm not the only one experience this. I have a feeling more people have the problem too they just haven't noticed it yet because they are to busy picking apart the actual gameplay.

It happens in a few other maps, too, but that one is the worst. I tried contacting the support on this site about it, but the support page didn't work. : /

Same exact problem. Happens on multiple maps but it's most noticeable on Lighthouse because the other maps are rather dark and it just looks like dirt on the ground. Glad you posted this. I was worried it was a problem with my PC.

For the record, I have a 5850 and I'm running Windows 7 x64. Steam version.

I have this too, 1920x1080 with extreme settings. I've used the advanced editor to tweak blur and such and thought maybe I might have accidentally switched something off, but it seems the editor doesn't work for MP anyway. But yeah, this seems to happen with almost every ground texture that's meant to resemble grass.

Edit: Just wanted to give you guys a heads up, deleting the autoexec.cfg I had made fixed this, so slowly reintroducing commands to see what caused it.

And where might this autoexec.cfg file be located? I haven't created one of those, I added my fov settings and such to my games shortcut.

Anyways I'm glad I'm not the only one that has this problem. The more people that have it the more quickly it will be fixed!

A thought.. could it be tied to field of view settings? cl_fov is the only command I've found that works in multiplayer.

In that case maybe I just lucked out, as I kept the FoV settings and still didn't have an issue. If people have made it it'll just be in the root Crysis 2 folder. You could always try removing some of the commands in the shortcut other than FoV and see if that works, they're doing the same thing as the autoexec.cfg.

+g_skipIntro 1 +cl_fov 90 +rd_drawnearfov 70 +pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90

Those are the commands I've added. I don't see how any of them can interfere with textures though. : /

Ah fair play, no, it doesn't look like any of those could do it. I must have just got lucky somewhere, sorry.

Srsly wtf can cause this? Did removing the autoexec work for someone else?
It would be easier to find a solution if we could create our own lobbys because finding a server that has got the right map and works is difficult.

Broke it. It happens sometimes when you alt tab alot (Which I have to do since people don't want to message me on Xfire but AIM/MSN)

Are you sure that atl/tab is the cause? I am doing it alot^^

Removed the autoexec and wrote everything into the system.cfg.
g_skipIntro=1
cl_fov=65
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=65

Let's see if it works!

It didn't work. Let's test the alt/tab theory!

I also alt-tab a lot while sitting in a servers lobby. Rarely while actually in a game. I really don't think that's it though because it will happen even if I don't alt-tab, I'll try it tomorrow.

And it's definitely nothing to do with the autoexec, my bad folks. I've found it almost never happens if it's the first map I load. For example if I load the game, join a server running lighthouse and join mid-game the textures are fine. However, if it's the second map in rotation the ground textures are dark, same applies for any map.

I have the same issue on a 5850. I thought it was just an odd choice of textures...

So it's either a common driver issue that both AMD and nVidia drivers have or it's a corrupted texture in the game files. I'm guessing a lot more people have this problem but they haven't really noticed it yet, or it doesn't bother them enough to come on here and complain about it.

It doesn't make the game unplayable, but it is really a huge eye sore.

I wouldn't complain if it was a "feature", but obviously it's a bug.

Got that too, just had to notice, its not always like that, when im playing like 1hour or more it become dark, and when i start that map like first one its good, its not only on lighthouse map, its on every map with grass and that kind of ground material.
