A Darker Morrowind.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:16 am

Okay so I downloaded a mod a few days ago and it made Morrowind much darker and it felt much more realistic. I have no idea what I did or how I did it but it was amazing. I downloaded a mod today and all of my settings went back to normal. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could get it back to the way it was without downloading a mod. I tried TLM but for some reason it wasn't working for me.

Did you make any changes to your ini file?

There is always http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=935 but I really recommend you be careful about outright replacing your .ini.

Morrowind Nights isn't really a mod as much as it is a set of .ini values that make for much darker nights in game. It all comes down to copying the nighttime color values from that ini to yours.

The only thing I changed after it happened was making the lighting Quadratic.(Which I had been meaning to do anyway) and I don't think any of the mods I've downloaded recently edit your .ini other than me just downloading TLM which didn't work. I just changed my load order a bit so I'll see if TLM works for me now but I think whatever it was got rid of Tapestry lighting completely.

edit: It wasn't just nights though it was interiors as well. I loved the way interiors looked because it felt more realistic because it was nothing but the lanterns and candles lighting the environment. I'd have to post screenshots to show you.

You can try http://www.pirates.retreat.btinternet.co.uk/light.htm. It's much more darker than TLM

I just tried TLM again and it still didn't help. infact it seems to add a strange red light to everything in the room

Edit: I love what Morrowind Relighted did to the exteriors but the interiors still feel so bright.

Edit of the Edit: I changed my load order and this is absolutely fantastic it's just what I'm looking for thank you. It's not too dark like my initial lighting was and not too light like natural Morrowind. Now I can get back to cleaning house with Harunis the thief.

Did you try to set your Gamma in the menu Video's options?

I've also just recently discovered Morrowind Relighted and I just love it. TLM made Arille's somehow way too red, but Morrowind Relighted is fantastic, combined with Windows Glow the interiors with windows are much better. Some interiors might be a little bit too dark for my liking, but I might just add some lighting to those myself as I go along. Might I ask which ini settings you are using for the lighting sections, Harura?
