Does anyone have any pointers to how to convert gothic251s' version to a BAIN?

I have seen Wryes' own Darnified UI 132 BAIN..

And had both archives open side by side, trying to unravel the mystery of converting the former into the latter.. may have been too tired, but a fog came down, especially when reading a bit of xml editing involved, but thats something I have never dabbled with.

Wryes version works well, but I very much prefer gothic251s' version... snag is its an OMOD for guaranteed installation, just one of the two remaining mods I still need OBMM for, the other fly in the ointment being sensual walks animations installer.

Wrye uses the ini tweaks after installation to make the necessary font installation work, other than that BAIN just throws all the files in the right places, job done.

Has anyone anywhere had a go at this?

I have done it, but mine is highly customized now.

There is a whee fix you need to apply to two of that map's textures. You can figure out which because two of them are 16MB I think. They should be 4MB. http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/troubleshooting/cps/worlmap01

I will update if I found that my estimates are off, as I have not had to check the mod in a while (fixed textures safely pact in a BAIN project.)

For that one theres three textures sub folders - menus, menus50, menus80,

two 16mb files and one 4mb (the 4mb one is in menus50), after using gothics omod, in my installers I use a BAIN conversion already of the Cyrodiil Terrain map overwriting the omod install of the relevant files, which works fine.

You should recompress the two 16MB files; otherwise, you may eventually run into the disappearing map bug. They are meant to be no larger than 4MB. It take little to no time to do that.

I re-compressed all of them, and they came out to be ~2MB and ~512KB, a fairly noticeable reduction. I do not remember if this had something to do with this particular problem, but you should choose "yes" to generate mip maps if prompted.

:hugs: I was just coming back to ask about mip maps, without mip maps the file size is 2mb, with mip maps and using supersampling they are 2.7

Edit: Job done, all three re-compressed, tested in game prior to using in the above project - Alls good (though never had the map vanishing trick before I dont doubt it will happen at some point).

I do not know about supersampling, but I did use mipmaps. I think I was just being anol though. If you always run on large textures, theoretically, you should not need mip maps.

Just trying another go at this without mip maps, the quality of the last run left a lot to be desired, a bit fuzzy compared with the originals. Without using mip maps the quality is as well defined as the originals after re-compressing. Going to have a second copy and notes on standby just in case.

Without mip maps should be fine as long as you stick with large textures. I do, and I guess you do as well, so do not bother over it. Just keep that in mind if you release any texture mods in the future.
