DarN UI possible conflicts?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:34 am

I've download DarN UI, because it looks so appealing. But there are a few things bothering me:

DarN UI said it already has LAME functionality in it, while currently I've already installed LAME, so what should I do with the current LAME?

DarN UI seems to change the way crosshair behavior is. I'm currently using Dynamic Crosshair and I don't want to switch, what should I do?

Should I just uninstall them, install DarN UI, and re-install them?

Thanks in advance

Delete the menu files installed by L.A.M.E., then install DarNified UI.

There's an in-game settings menu for the mod that has an option to disable the crosshair changes.

I installed only these:
bgMagicEV
bgMagicShaderLifeDetect
bgMagicLightningBolt

So I should delete bgMagicEV? But isn't it the main file?

So I should just retain the dynamic crosshair and install DarN anyway? Disabling the crosshair change after?

No, if those are the only ones installed just keep them.

Yeah, just keep the Dynamic Crosshair mod enabled and install DarN.

I don't know what you mean about the LAME functionality... LAME is a magic overhaul and DarN is an interface mod, they don't have anything to do with each other. As for your other questions, you should install Darn first and let anything you install after overwrite Darn.

If you use the in-game settings it is reset every time you reload. You actually have to edit the xml files to make permanent changes.

The LAME functionality is the menus, ie spellmaking and enchantment. If you use bash or obmm, install darn last, it will overwrite LAME files.

I just checked, LAME's resources are packed in a bsa, so it shouldn't ask you to overwrite anything from Darn anyway.

Well, I've installed DarN UI, and the font is so darn small, albeit readable. So far, so good. No conflict whatsoever. I didn't install the loading screen part and rejected the hud_reticle.xml installation (I have Dynamic Crosshair)

I don't know just what kind of functionality from LAME do DarN UI have, but it clearly states this:

Raised Spellmaking Enchantments Limits/Supreme Magicka/L.A.M.E: This functionality is already part of DarNified UI. The settings are in enchantmentsetting_config.xml.

Okay, you can safely ignore that. Lame includes some optional files you are supposed to install if you are not using Darn, so you don't have to worry about it.
