DarNified UI 1.4/DarkUI'd DarN

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 12:27 am

Hm. I did. Lovely piece of crap this forum software is. Anything I can do short of starting a new thread?

Nope.

Last I looked, though, it was 25-11, so maybe just mark that down (unless you saw more recent results) and add it to the current tally in your mind.

And don't edit the OP again.

You mean the npc dialog/subtitle text?

Yeah.

P.S. - you're a genius, but is there no way to set the scale of the map from within game? I imagine it's been asked a million times but I'm curious to know why/why not :).

The count was 40 votes when this happened. Last I saw was 26 - 12, so I'm going to assume 27 - 13 = 40 for the count at reset. :)

You can set the fonts to use no. 1 in the config files.

In dialog_config.xml:
<_dlgfont> 1 </_dlgfont>

In hudsubtitlemenu_config.xml:
<_sttfont> 1</_sttfont>

Both files allow you to tweak the color and background for the text as well. Using font 1 will certainly make it readable. ;)

I had in game map scaling in an earlier version, but it was too buggy, so I had to take it out. The scaling worked fine, but the map wouldn't center properly, and placing the player marker required scale to be 1.

I voted for themes.

I think the fonts are great the way they are. Themes would be pretty cool though. Especially if it's easy to add them :)

Hey Darn, during a search of TESNexus I found http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2788. It's a basic image that one can use to add such a frame to a map loop replacer. Now I did this myself a while ago (before I actually saw that file) for my PinkUI and it worked well. Only problem is, is that it was very time consuming and if I want a different menu loop I would have to add the frame to the new map loop again. Back then I was planning on asking if it would be possible to simply overlay an image (or two) on top of the menu loop. But typical me, I forgot to ask and now that I saw that file I remembered I wanted to ask it. :P

Wow. I don't know which one to choose!

When I started with the DarkUI'd DarN I complained about the small size of the fonts (meaning the "large" version). However, when I started using Luchaire's dark blue theme the contrast was better so I was able to cope. I have now mostly gotten used to them but I have to wear glasses to play, and that wasn't true with BTMod.

So that means that I wanted a bigger font *and* I use themes. Anyway, I voted "fonts" but you see my quandary.

I feel compelled to point out, no offence intended, that those people voting fonts tend to be expressing a desire to have something problematic adjusted, while those voting for themes tend to be expressing a desire to have something nice added to the mod.

Just saying.

Hiya DarN:

Wrt themes: That would imply that the DarNified Dark UI would become a theme and wouldn't have to be a separated UI mod? If that's the case, I would vote for themes ... :)

Cheers,

Adding an image to the Main Menu should be pretty straight forward as long as it's alpha channel is ok. Just a matter of slapping it on top of the video. Same approach should be doable for Loading Screens, btw. :)

Yeah, I know the dilemma there - hence this vote. Whatever the results here, my intention is to make both of these eventually. There will be a lot of work and rethinking, so I expect this to take a while.

Gothic has expressed a desire to continue with DarkUI'd DarN, and I think that's the easiest route to go. The initial plan is to do the "Light" themes in DUI, and let Gothic handle the darker ones. This means I can have a standard color config for text that doesn't have to change when the user switches. The images will change regardless ofcourse. I can probably extend this to support dark themes as well later on should the need arise.

The changelog in the OP is likely to change, but I won't be editing the OP again , as the votes get zeroed out when I do. :brokencomputer: The current score is Fonts : 21, Themes : 32.

Hi Darn,

No pressure, but do you have a possible ETA for the 1.3.2 version ? If I understand correctly, this will probably be the last bugfix version and I'd like to start my new game with it running :)

The hope is to get it out by the end of next month.

Right now I'm redesigning the Message Menu to accomodate the new scrollbar. http://ui.darnified.net/wip/misc/msg_menu_scroll.avi, but requires me to rewrite the entire position/size calcs.

A rather unknown quantity is the "Palatino" error. I'd prefer to find out where and why this occurs rather than ripping out all traces of Palatino in the installer. Getting people that have this error, and can reproduce it every time they install has proved fruitless though.

The rest of that list is good ol' mundane layout work, and will take no time at all. :)

Hi,

Great job!!! :foodndrink:

This is one of those mods you install and forget...lol . I love what you have done for my interface and have been using interface changers from Wayyyy back when Oblivion first came out. I am now using the omod version .....DarkUId_DarN_155_OMOD_Version-11280.omod (byGothic251) It (the omod) is scripted and even does the INI changes.

Again, Fantastic job everyone involved!!!! :celebration:

Hey darn, i vote for bigger fonts too. It's not that I can't see it its more...that it just feels wrong to me. Especially with on screen messages in the top left, there meant to stand out but they don't.

Health bars on enemies, surely its possible to make them bigger too?

Anyway, another thing I don't like is the black border around subtitles, anyway to remove that?

Durability bar only reaching 75%, also it seems not to work in some cases.

For OXP. I would like to see you fix up up a level up screen for BTMOD if possible, since no offense but I prefer that over your UI. Although I do like the map and the the breath meter gauges...would be cool to mix and match heh.

Still, its a good UI. But no completely to my preference :)

You can configure this in hudsubtitlemenu_config.xml. Try this and see if they stand out:
<_ntfont> 1 </_ntfont><_ntred> 254 </_ntred><_ntgreen> 0 </_ntgreen><_ntblue> 255 </_ntblue><_ntalpha> 255 </_ntalpha>
;)

hudreticle_config.xml
<_ehbscaled> &false; </_ehbscaled>

<_sttbackground> &false; </_sttbackground>

Thanks for the answer :D After thinking a bit more I voted for Fonts too ... since (IMHO) that would be the coolest change and is much more requested :goodjob:

W.r.t. to the poll-clears-when-edit bug, I've seen someone here that makes two posts for polls, and reserving the first one only for the poll, and putting in the second the actual content you want in the first ... Is a workaround to the problem.

Cheers, and thanks for all you hard work! I would never play again this game without it :tops:

I had an idea for a possible feature, not sure if it's feasible. What I was thinking of is some kind of hack for the chargen race/six xml file to show the stats and skill bonuses. Would that be doable?

Yes not great is it, pity they didn't get you to design it, your own forum is a joy to use after this.

By the way is there any effective way to search this forum so far Iv'e had no luck at all with searches sometimes Google can find me stuff on here but it's very patchy to find my way to here I searched page by page till I found it BB

I loled at that. Reminded me of when I did the same thing ages ago. Btw thats the first time I've heard someone swear on these forums. :D

I voted for the fonts, they were too small for my liking. I found a thread on your DarNified forums to alter the inventory font and icon size to in between the default DarNified UI and Vanilla, and I saw a post in this thread for changing subtitle font type or size. What i'd like to know is if that change in this thread http://darnified.net/forums/index.php?topic=46.0 affects your spell menu page or the stats or quest one.

I assume not from when I read the post, but can you edit each of there respective xml files to get the similar results? I'd really like an option to be able to scale the font/icon size in game like the hud options, and the same for subtitles. Btw is there already option to remove the dark box behind the subtitles and change the subtitle colour?

Also unrelated to fonts is there an option to scale the compass size?

The last time I installed Darn UI 1.32 and attempted really to convince myself to use it. Played with it near one hour, but I ended to uninstall it. My majors requests:

- Biggers fonts especially those of the quest log (they are too smalls)
- Biggers inventory icons (wz_inventory doesn't solve the issue and is secondary for me)
- Bigger Map (scale in Cyrodiil map).

I've been using the Darnified UI lately and I don't know why in Oblivion I never used it before! Awesome!!!

Is there any way to change the fonts without reloading the .esp?

I'm fine with the fonts. I run at 1600X1200 I know rather old school, My next monitor will be wide screen.

Iv'e reduced the size of all the hud elements that I can to 30% & it works fine for me.

I would love to find a way to reduce the size of the various hud elements. For instance it would be great if I could see the merchant I'm dealing with when I buying from him instead of having him obliterated by an enormous menu.
I know that I should be writing this on the Darn Forum not here so I will stop right now. Thank you & Darn for your wonderful mod. I couldn't play Oblivion without it Thnx Beebee
