Alpha 9 will have some more Chargen goodness:

Here's a suggestion for the UI. :)

I was wondering if it were possible to make a better Karma meter in the Pip-Boy? Right now, you only get the words (e.g. evil, very evil, good, very good, neutral). I would like to see a display of the actual numerical value of the Karma on that screen as well, and maybe a note given to the player to explain the ranges, so long as we get to keep the cool lil pictures as well :)

Nice idea, but should definitely be an option because not everyone likes having exact values displayed for what are meant to be ambiguous statistics. I'm guessing it's quite easy to do, considering you can get your Karma value at any time by using the console command "player.getav karma", if I remember correctly.

Here in my game the font don't chages, and the menus get a lot desaligned, maybe i can supply you with screenshots. But before i need to install it.

Sounds like you're installing it wrong. A screenshot would be nice.

Can I ask why you're playing with the field of view stuff, anyway? The game is hor+ by default so it's not like you're losing out on any screen space...

Read http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14798. Bottom line: Menu is Vert- in widescreen.

I changed that font in a8. I found it to be more readable than the old one actually, which is why I did that in the first place. Try making a new char and have a look for yourself.

---

I've made a test version of the Stats Menu for you. It has some changes to XBox360 controller input handling. Anyone with a XBox360 controller - test this one and see if you can use the RadX, etc buttons on the status page.

I've read that thread before and yeah, I know that things are vert- in widescreen, but... well, the Xbox version seems to have the same proportions in 4:3 as it does in 16:9, which seems to indicate that the PC version's scaling is incorrect. Ah well. I guess I just don't mind if the 2D screens are cut off slightly. They're such a minor part of the game, and it's not like they stretch or anything...

Not game-breaking exactly, but an annoyance to me nonetheless. I just saw an opportunity to fix it, which incidentally is why DUI F3 is out in the first place. ;)

I've looked it and still don't like it. it's somehow cool font but hard to read.
Vanilla's default sFontFile_5 is better at readability and it works perfectly with terminal.
I don't think cool font fits terminal hacking text if aligned problem is fixed.

I've just tested the Pip-boy Stats with XBox360 controller.
It pertially works, but very confusing and still has many problems.

When I first bring Pip-boy Pressing B button and see Stats.
it still shows following.

Stimpak A)
Limbs X)
RadAway Y)
Rad-X X)

it shows X twice.
and with this change, i can't leave from pip-boy's Status. pressing B doesn't work in Status.
To leave, I have to change anything but Status menu like S.P.E.C.I.A.L menu or Item menu and such.

If I press A, it use Stimpak as I expected.
If I press X, it let me choose body parts, but now, I can't just simply stop choosing body parts and do other things with pip-boy.
Pressing B leave from Pip-boy itself.

If I Press Y , it use RadAway. This is good since I couldn't use it before.
To use Rad-X, I still have to move down left stick and press X, as there are invisible CND/RAD/EFF.

I'd love to see a numerical representation of my Karma as well. Or at least a graph or something. Both Good & Evil have pretty large ranges; it'd be nice to see where you sit in those ranges. :)

I'm looking into the font 5 stuff for the next alpha.

Hm. I see a hardcoded value for the limbs here... I'll try to shuffle some stuff around.

Does the B button close/open the PipBoy by default?

Yes. B button is assigned to Pip-boy by default.
and if i delete stats_menu.xml, it works just fine in Status.

Ok. Try http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menua9b2.7z.

tryed... with lol.
That shows Left Trigger for Rad-X.
BUT, LT and RT is used for switching STATS/ITEMS/DATA, so it doesn't work.
I think LB and RB isn't used in Status menu.
Also, I still could use Rad-X, with moving down Left stick and pressing X.

hmm maybe i just found the solution.

change

<_PCButton_X> stats_radx_button

to

<_PCButton_RB> stats_radx_button

that wil make me use RB for rad-x.

also it works, how can i change the display. it still shows LT and changed to

doesn't work. my guess is failed.

_PCButton_* works only without the controller. Since you're now editing the xml, try this:
keep line 236 as
<xbuttonrb> <ref src=http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/949858-wipz-darnified-ui-f3/"stats_radx_button" trait="clicked"/> </xbuttonrb>

change line 339 to
<_xbox_button> &xbuttonrb; </_xbox_button>

Worked. but there is a problem.
As i said, move down left stick once and press X button still use Rad-X instead of Limbs.
weird thing is i can use keyboard X key to use Rad-X same time.
I wonder why, since i can't and shouldn't use keyboard if i enable XBox360 Controller.
keyboard and mouse input is just ignored when i use controller. why X key works.

I don't know why. You can try deleting line 21 if it annoys you - might work.

The invisible pages are hardcoded I think. I've tried removing those buttons completely, but that crashes the game. Trapping xup/down isn't working either - it's just added to the input chain. I'll have another look though.

The buttons work as intended now though unless you move the stick down?

Yeah it works.

Tell the truth, i didn't use controller those days. because it's so hard to move crosshair with stick.

Hi Darn,

I've got a little problem with a8 to which I updated by overwriting a7 and updating the fonts section of ini. Mod is enabled in launcher and F3 is mod allowed (invalidate..)

So in Pipboy menues especially in STATS mode: i have the following problem -> lower screen menue bar font looks totally out of line. "Stats" and "S.P.E.C.I.A.L." and "Skills" button overlap each other. Same in the Items and Data Pipboy menues the lower bar font looks unnatural.

Is this a bug or did I do something wrong?

I had that happen then I did then suddenly it wasn't happening. The first stat page still doesn't look like the screenshot (it doesn't have the part with the clothing listed) but I no longer have the font problem.

Do you mean the list to the right in http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p1.jpg?

Sure. You won't see a list at all though if you have no effects applied...

I fixed this in all the previous releases, but in A8 I seem to be having difficulty locating the "always enable Continue/Done" in the Levelup Menu. I know that I must just be missing it, but I have spent a lot more time looking for it than it should have taken me. Can someone give me a pointer in the right direction? Also, DarN - what do you think about adjusting the "Wait" Menu to allow for waiting up to 3 - 4 days. I did that to my game. The reason is so that when people add in mods that require the cells to reset, it is much easier to just wait the 4 days than to wait 24 hours 4 different times. Just a thought.
