[WIPz] DarNified UI F3

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 4:34 pm

@DarN,
When you mentioned going back to DUI...well, I thought you meant for Oblivion!!

Well, both actually. Always something planned for both - never enough time though.

This is fantastic! I guess I'm really behind. This is a joyous occasion, indeed! (singing Flight of the Bumblebee in praise of your efforts)

;)
You are awesome. Thank you for this!

Lol, you're welcome M'Lady. :)

Finished the rough cut of the menus - comparison:

http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/cg_wip6.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/cg_wip8.jpg
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/cg_wip7.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/cg_wip10.jpg

As you can see, the font changes really messed up alignments for these, which is why I went with Chargen first. On to the fine tuning...

Alpha 8 should be right around the corner:

- Fixed position bug in top_bracket prefab (BethBug)- Some fixes to LevelUp Menu- Added Chargen Pack (3 menus)- Fixed XBox 360 controller issues in Stats Menu(?)

I've had a look at the LevelUp Menu. The _lvl_Cont setting works as intended: http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duif3_lvlupdemo.avi - XVid, 10.8MB, 1280x800
To get values over 100 to display in the UI at next level up, a mod is going to be needed in addition to the xml code changes.

I don't have any mods that alter these values, so the game saves these +100 values by default. You may need a mod like Wasteland Mastery to take advantage of them though - I don't know.

so youre saying its still not possible to display values over 100? I know they can GO over 100 (ala wasteland mastery) but id like to SEE them over 100.

If getting values over 100 to display is possible...point me in the right direction and im on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich

The values need to be set with FOSE (GetAV->SetUIFloat) and then I can use those for display there instead of the values the game would have me use. I was thinking of putting this in the DUI F3 esp (it's purely a visual menu fix anyway), but I'm hoping for some FOSE functions to get implemented first. I don't wanna clutter up the HUD more than I have to, and scruggs semi-promised me a globals() solution. Using the LevelUp Menu menumode has ... issues. WIP is what I'm sayin'. :)

I don't have Wasteland Mastery installed, btw - this is all vanilla.

So i should just shut it and be patient :P

Though im sure you know...All Wasteland Mastery does is allow the game to store values over 100 (or did it already?) and makes increasing skills over 100 actually meaningful

Ahh...didn't notice this until now. I never play a non DaRNified Oblivion and now I am not going to be able to play a non DaRNified Fallout 3. Best news I've had this week!

This mod does everything automatically and invisibly, from the moment you start the game. You will notice the benefits as soon as one of the effected skills hits 105. However, currently the game does not display skill values of over 100 (they are stored obviously, but just not displayed). Therefore, the only way to check your current skill values if they are over 100 is to use the console:

~ to open the console
player.getav xxxxxxx
where xxxxxxx is the name of the skill, either "smallguns", "bigguns", "energyweapons", "explosives", "meleeweapons", "unarmed", "barter", "medicine", "repair", or "sneak"

A better system for this is being investigated in future versions. Even if you can't see the value over 100, rest assured that it is giving you benefits.

The game does store these values as you can see from the video I posted - the benefits from 100+ skills are addressed by WM though. Displaying them is what I'm hoping to do later. :) Right now though, you can set _lvl_Cont to 1, and you'll be good to go. You just need to use the console to see the proper values if they're above 100.

Will DUI8 include a static XP bar somewhere on the HUD (as an optional item perhaps)? I know I asked you about this a while back and you were looking into it. I would like to see how far I am to the next level without pulling up my Pipboy. Thank you VERY much for all your work! You are a very wonderful person to go through all this trouble for all of us.

Alpha 8 will not include this, but future versions might. This too needs FOSE to work.

Alpha 8 LIVE

Changes from a7:
  • Fixed position bug in top_bracket prefab (BethBug)
  • Some fixes to LevelUp Menu
  • Misc fixes for setting hookups
  • Fixed XBox 360 controller issues in Stats Menu?
  • Fixed "_sm_hideLIVE" option to work with the latest patch
  • Added Chargen Pack (3 menus)
  • Added replacement for font 5 (computer)
New menus:

Chargen Pack

This pack contains the Racesix, Chargen and the TextEdit Menus.

Ditto. Really borks the hacking screen. The fonts are awesome other than that though!
And you got skills on the levelup menu to go over 100!! sweet! :P

For now though, I'm having to ~unlock ternimals (the ones that I can hack legitimately)

Heya, Darn

Have you come across any way of showing what skills are tagged when you level up? (Since more an more mods are implementing the tag from FO1/2, this would be a nice addition)

Now that I've figured out how to edit it, I absolutely love it! Well, I did before but now I love it more! (And your one for Oblivion as well. Can't play without it.) I love having the smaller fonts and being able to see more listed and the new layout for the PipBoy. I did make the HUD larger; if it's as small as it starts out, I tend to miss how far my health has dropped or when the enemies appear.

there is an easy fix to the problem, i just found out myself, just change

;sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt
sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_14.fnt

to

sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt
;sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_14.fnt

under fonts in the ini file... :)

Yes, Alpha 8 is a newer version; just released yesterday. The changes include:
Changes from a7:
  • Fixed position bug in top_bracket prefab (BethBug)
  • Some fixes to LevelUp Menu
  • Misc fixes for setting hookups
  • Fixed XBox 360 controller issues in Stats Menu?
  • Fixed "_sm_hideLIVE" option to work with the latest patch

So download it and extract to your Data folder like before. Whenever it asks you if you wish to overwrite a certain file, say yes (its simply overwriting the files from alpha 7 as well as adding some new ones).

Also, be sure to copy the Fonts section from the opening post to your Fallout.ini (overwriting the existing Fonts section); Alpha 8 has a different fonts setup. :) Pretty easy, and it only takes a few minutes. Note, that any custom settings you set up with Alpha 7 will need to be set again.

That simply makes the game use the old font, and doesn't "fix" anything. Furthermore, since the Pip-boy fonts have been changed in this version, now the sub-menus there don't display correctly.

Well, either we can deal with an unchanged font, or we can do the ~unlock. So yeah, it fixes it till DarN comes up with a better way to do it in the mod :P
