Thread history: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=900230&hl= http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=906998 http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=912730 http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=915859 http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=920812 http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=924267 http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=929918

If you're unfamiliar with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10763, the goal is to make the UI look more at home on the PC. This means smaller fonts, more visible items in the lists, and scaling of some elements. Though improved, the F3 ui is a little too big for my taste, hence DUI F3. As with the other version, I will try to implement settings where appropriate. Settings can be found in Data\menus\prefabs\DUIF3Settings.xml.

Dialog Menu

The NPC name has been moved, the font changed, and the number of items is dynamic.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/font6_wip2.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/font6_wip1.jpg

Barter Menu

Number of visible items in the lists is dynamic (typically ~21 with font size 14), and the font changed.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/barter_menu_default.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/barter_menu_darn.JPG

Container Menu

Same modifications as the Barter Menu.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/cont1.JPG

Pipboy Menus

This includes the Stats, Inventory, Repair, and Map Menus.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p1.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p2.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p3.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p4.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/stats_menu_p5.jpg
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/inventory_p1.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/inventory_p2.jpg
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/map_menu_p1.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/map_menu_p2.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/map_menu_p3.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/map_menu_p4.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/map_menu_p5.jpg
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/repair.jpg

System Menus

This includes all the menus reachable from the Start Menu. Currently only has the Start Menu itself. You can remove the LIVE button in the config (I'm sick of clicking it when I don't mean to). Also added DUI and F3 version numbers.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_start_menu.jpg

Sleep/Wait Menu

Shows when you Sleep/Wait...!

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/sleep.jpg

Repair Services Menu

Comes up when you choose to repair items at a vendor.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/repair_services.jpg

Quantity Menu

Goes with the Barter Menu.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/quantity1.jpg

Message Menu

Used for short messages, and undoubtedly in many mods to come. :)

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/msg_menu.jpg

LevelUp Menu

Shows when you get enough XP to level up.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/lvlup_wip2.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/lvlup_wip3.jpg

Tutorial Menu

Shows when you click help in the Pause Menu, and at various stages at the beginning of the game.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duitut.jpg

HUD

The HUD has been completely transformed. You have full control over scale, color, visibility, and positions. Open the config file to see what more can be done to it.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duihud1.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duihud2.jpg

Chargen Pack

This pack contains the Racesix, Chargen and the TexEdit Menus.

The Racesix Menu list has been reworked with new sliders and numbers for these. A substitution for font 5 was made to make the list more readable. The numbers mimic the values you'll see in the CS (* 100). The Chargen Menu is modeled after the LevelUp Menu.

Screens:
http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_chargen2.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_chargen1.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_chargen3.jpg - http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_chargen4.jpg

Install:
  • Back up your menus folder if you have one.
  • Extract to Fallout 3\Data.
  • Activate DarNifiedUIF3.esp in FOMM or the F3 launcher.
  • Edit your Fonts section like so in the ini:
    [Fonts];sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fnt;sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fntsFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fnt;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fntsFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_Otl_12.fnt;sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fntsFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_14.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_PetitaMedium_Outline_18.fntsFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Forgotten_Futurist_Otl_18.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Klill_Outline_20.fntsFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt

  • Make sure bInvalidateOlderFiles is set to 1 in the ini.

The ini = My Documents\My games\Fallout3\FALLOUT.INI

Uninstall:
  • Remove the files copied. Keep track if you use more UI mods, or just delete the menus folder if this is the only one.
  • Revert any ini changes made.

Troubleshooting:

Should you experience CTD's or other difficulties,
  • Make sure to edit the ini properly
  • Verify that all files are where they should be
  • Make sure none of the files are listed in ArchiveInvalidation.txt
  • Test the mod by itself - no other mods installed

Known issues:
  • The new font setup makes original menus look a bit off. You'll see text misaligned in buttons, etc. This will go away as soon as the menu in question is included in the mod.

http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_f3a8.7z - This contains all menus pictured above.

Changes from a7:
  • Fixed position bug in top_bracket prefab (BethBug)
  • Some fixes to LevelUp Menu
  • Misc fixes for setting hookups
  • Fixed XBox 360 controller issues in Stats Menu?
  • Fixed "_sm_hideLIVE" option to work with the latest patch
  • Added Chargen Pack (3 menus)
  • Added replacement for font 5 (computer)

Personal request - does this mod, can this mod or is there another mod that can actually show the facegen values used? I know the sliders go from 3.5 to -3.5 but using a drawing package and an arsenal of screenshots to transfer results to GECK is drawn out and annoying.

I'm still watching and waiting for something similar as well.

The character generator slider values is on Darn's to do list as I have been pestering him about that for a while now. In the previous topic he said it will either be that or getting VATS Darnified in his next update.

Bug : The character name/health bar element flickers with a high frequency, when the target is just out of the activation length.

Has this issue been brought up before ? I use DUIF3 a7. Can't seem to take a screenshot ( too fast ). Will get a video if needed.

I think that issue was addressed in the latest Fallout 3 patch - do you have that installed? 1.1.0.35

1. Not really. They're made when I include that menu in the package. Font additions, etc will mean the default look is different. You can still get the look with some config/ini editing though.
2. Use the default HUD, or set _HUDScale to 100 and _HUDMeterFont to 7. Keep font 7 at it's default value in the ini. I'm not sure the last alternative will get you all the way though.
3. See #2.

Where are the pertinent files I need to alter? I did a filename search for "hud" in the Menus folder, and turned up two files, neither of which had the actual "_hudscale" value.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it.

EDIT 2: The font fix did not return the radiation warning to the default, it's still the altered font. I didn't find anything pertaining to a font for the rad meter specifically.

How exactly do I do this? Where is the config file? I'm probably being dim, but I don't see one anywhere?

Love the new menu stuff though! I use your Ob one all the time, and I will use this one as well. I like having more info on the screen. :)

DarN, i've experienced a slight bug. I've been using MTUI before trying out yours, but now there are some overlapping of numbers and words. Like where the weapon info is on the main HUD, the ammo counter overlaps the condition bar, and when gaining XP the numbers overlap XP. Also, my dialog box stays default size, meaning all my scrolling is back. :( Do I need to completely remove my menu folder and reinstall DarN?

I would. I'm just guessing, but it sounds like you didn't completely uninstall your old interface/UI mod, and I'd assuume that would be required.

You didn't change the fonts section in the Fallout.ini. Do that and everything will be ok. This has nothing to do with MTUI

Ok, got it right now. Turns out just copying the changes into the Fonts section won't do. You'd have to delete what's already there, and replace with what DarN has. Now though, it looks gorgeous, and for some reason the HR hud even makes the game itself look better.

Nice work, DarN.

Wow, DarN....Every time I think you can't possibly get this any better, you improve it again! (course, I stopped following the threads back on topic 4, lol...)

Sorry to sound like half the people who posted in here in the past, but, do you have any plans to DarNify the VATS?

I'm truly impressed! I have always thought that the vanilla UI was a bit "blocky" and was too big. I'm glad that this mod is out! I'm going to download it as soon as my gaming PC is up and running again (power supply crash, very sad :shakehead:)

Minor bug I just noticed - the top-right corner of the Wait menu has its border slightly misaligned.

It does indeed look a bit off, however the code for those are in a couple of prefabs I haven't touched... I'll look into it though.

8 threads...popular! anyway, i see you can change the color of the hud, is this easier through your mod (i usually just change it through the ini)

thanks again for the awesome mod,
TheDamned

It's easier if you want to deal with normal RGB values. I did that initially to allow different colors for text and gfx. Right now it's up to you, but later there might be color sliders in-game for those. You never know... ;)

Personal request - does this mod, can this mod or is there another mod that can actually show the facegen values used? I know the sliders go from 3.5 to -3.5 but using a drawing package and an arsenal of screenshots to transfer results to GECK is drawn out and annoying.

On the TODO list. Still not sure if it's doable for F3 though.

Forgot to pull the values there. Change the two font values for the text entries in the rad meter - hud_main_menu.xml, line 703 and 719:
<font> 4 </font>

to
<font> <copy src=http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/949858-wipz-darnified-ui-f3/"globals()" trait="_HUDMeterFont" /> </font>

or wait for the next alpha when that'll be fixed. :)

I know it's a TODO but would love to see higher (>100) skill levels reflected in either level up or in Pipboy or both.

Those values are HARDcoded. You'll need a mod to allow skills to rise above 100. Displaying them in the UI isn't the problem.

How exactly do I do this? Where is the config file? I'm probably being dim, but I don't see one anywhere?

Love the new menu stuff though! I use your Ob one all the time, and I will use this one as well. I like having more info on the screen. :)

Doppl3 gave you the right location for it. I'm planning a usage section for the OP to set people off on the right track when it comes to configuring this stuff. It's one of those things that seems to get pushed down the list of priorities... The comments in the config file should give you a pretty good idea on what to do though. Good to hear you're enjoying it. :)
