[RELZ/WIPZ/BETA] DarNified UI

I believe kyoma's planning to remove/increase that limit in the next version of his MenuQue OBSE plugin.
Oh right! I almost forgot about that.

Hello Darn,

if I remember well, there is an option somewhere to set to 0 in order to start with a submenu minimized, like the "Keys" submenu does. In particular, I would start my game with the Stones submenu minimized, I mean that one below the Keys submenu. Which file should I look for, and which is the code involved in this?

<_bToggle_Stones> &false; in inventory_config.xml

At least I'd guess so.

You can find it in Data\Menus\Prefabs\darn\inventory_config.xml, look for <_bToggle_Stones> and change the value to &false;.

I have a problem with some (mod) quest notes not appearing correctly. If the notes reach a certain length the scrollbar won't go down further (even thou the notes) evidentely continue. Any way to fix this?

Are there different themes/styles like the ones for DarkUId DarN (ex: Light Wood UI, Dark Wood UI, Blue UI, Pink UI)?
Or is it a configurations option?

DarkUId DarN (and the other colors) are nothing but different-colored versions of Darnified UI, so the answer is yes, but nothing else than you already know :)

Wow! Thanks for pointing that out!
For some reason I always had the impression that DarkUld Darn was a competitor. So it sounds like I could install DarkUld Darn after Darnified UI to get a darker theme/style.

You just need to install one. DarkUI DarN is just a darker version of DarN.

I packaged them altogether with BAIN as shown http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/957424-custom-bain-projects/page__view__findpost__p__13828712.

that package has been updated and edited in my BAIN folder, but with it I can switch between the various versions easily.

I found it and just made my own deluxe version. Thanks. Your BAIN comps are great!

Greetings DarN!

First, thank you very much for what is, IMHO, simply the best UI ever made for Oblivion! I've been using it for some time now, and really just can't say enough good things about it.

Recently I switched my opening movie to http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15914 (which is really quite nice, btw). And that was cool... but I realized that I would probably enjoy this one even more if the UI buttons were lined across the bottom again, instead of stacked in a column in the middle. Contrary to popular belief (I'll explain that another time), I actually do know XML, and after studying yours for a bit I figured out what I needed to do to line them back across the bottom. I am actually quite pleased with how it looks, and I lost none of your functionality. :D

The reason I am writing is, do you ever get people asking for this? I'd be happy to offer it up to anyone that wants it, but not before running it by you first, of course! Besides, it could probably be improved... my version is hard-coded for a 1024x768 in game display. Other sizes could be hard-coded like this, or better yet, possibly the one version could be versatile enough to get the disply dynamically.

OK, getting ahead of myself! But seriously, thank you for this awesome UI! And if this alternative could be useful, please let me know!
veg

I've had this request before, yes. My intention was to make this configurable. Good intentions does not a mod make though. :)

It's on the todo list already. Will be released WIR. :P

You just need to install one. DarkUI DarN is just a darker version of DarN.

Yup. DarkUI'd has some extra bling though. :D

Darn It Darn - I didn't realize you would post here too.

So will edit the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1085562-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-f3/page__view__findpost__p__16463571 to ammend it here - more appropriate:
Hello Darn

Off topic for this specific forum, but have you heard of the Oblivion total conversion Nehrim: http://www.nehrim.de/indexEV.html

I've got a mods for Nehrim thread going and number one request I've read there and elsewhere is - is there a Darnified UI for Nehrim?

Have you considered it or are you over Oblivion?

I'll never get over Oblivion. :) Does Nehrim require a custom UI?

Most of it is vanilla but it has some features unique only to Nehrim.

Most find that by installing Darn (or Dark Darn) over Nehrim that these unique to Nehrim features get obscured and lost.

JOG - has made a start with http://www.sureai.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=3057 but it will definitely conflict with Darn UI.

Trying to recall what all gets disturbed ... loading bars, text on loading screen, Nehrim font (or whatever font they use), level up notices specific to Nehrim

It has some components of switching between graph and lines - I think kind of WZ inventory like. It has a kind of bunched up HUD, but many things are very similar. So I'd think an edited Darn UI would work and leave alone those elements above.

anyway - it is far more than a mod and is the first and complete total conversion - worth checking out especially considering the price. free

The inventory is wz for sure. I do see some custom features here and there in the videos they have. Looking at the screens, they seem to have changed the HUD from the one in those videos. I'd need a list/design doc with UI features to know if a DUI version is feasible though.

That kind of information probably exists on the German forums, but I'm not fluent enough to even know how to find such information. What I gather is the English version release contains less info than the German, but I could be wrong.

made http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1118493-release-nehrim-at-fates-edge-english-version/page__view__findpost__p__16463677 for it.

http://www.sureai.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=82 ... http://www.sureai.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=81.

I didn't see any extended readme on the English forum.

anyway other than requesting - I don't know how to get the information.

From what I've found, the UI in Nehrim is a mixture of wz_inventory and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13993.
I'd need a list/design doc with UI features to know if a DUI version is feasible though.
According to the page for the aforementioned mod, it adds the following features - minus a few non-applicable ones.
    Additional headings and text notes
Custom size and location of the controls
New colorful life bars for enemies
Additional display panel for the state of the equipped weapon
New Dashboard feature shows a mouse click all the values of your character at a glance
Additional display in the inventory is detailed information about the load status of your character
New extended map menu shows the map in full screen with enhanced filtering features and much more (or not)
Helpful numerical values beside the sliders in the options menu and character creation

Unfortunately, that doesn't account for anything that was added by the authors of Nehrim, but there doesn't seem to be anything substantial apart from the redesign of the main UI - both http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10010/ScreenShot191.jpg and http://blog-imgs-36-origin.fc2.com/n/a/r/narulivion/Nehrim006.jpg (Images shamelessly stolen from a Google search, as you can probably see).
Really, the most notable changes seem to be;
    * The fullscreen button for the local and world maps, as well as the "full" world map
    * The fullscreen stats page that shows you all your skills at once (with a toggle for showing either base of magic-affected stats
    * The redesigned journal (icons at the bottom instead of that odd-looking bar thing with the UI in it from Oblivion)
    * The http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/5551/nehrim112.jpg.

They seem to have gone to some length to make their UI specific to the mod - they might not want another version about. If I was to make this, I'd have to start with DUI as a base - the other way means starting from scratch more or less.

The features added by jog are in interesting addition to the menus, seeing all your stats at once is great & I would be sorry to lose it. But as for the rest it still has that kiddis toy look of the whole Oblivion interface that huge sneak eye in the centre of the screen that hud !!! what can I say, what were they thinking? It would be great if you could do something with it darn. I am looking forward to seeing your version of the nehrim hud .
Their launch screen looks clunky, but works fabulously having all that internet functionality & INI access from the launch screen is great, but it could do with a cosmetic overhaul

About Nehrim, the two biggest issues for me, being a loyal DarN user are the vanilla inventory list size instead of the smaller DarN size, and the vanilla dialog system. I did some basic editing and replaced the dialog system with DarN's and it is so much nicer. Given that we have to read subtitles for everything, having the pure white font against the black fader box is very helpful compared to Nehrim's grayish-yellow colored font with no background.

I can post how I edited all this if people like...

I haven't managed to tweak the inventory list yet...I imagine it's not too hard.

(Oh, and thanks again DarN for the awesome UI!)
