~ Release ~

This mod gives the Oblivion UI the most extensive facelift yet. It's goal is to rid the pc version of the horrid xbox interface. Fonts are smaller, settings can be adjusted in game, user controls are scaled, more info on screen, and the hud is vastly improved.

OBMM Install

This requires OBMM v1.1.12+ and 'Allow additional script types' to be set in OBMM settings.

1. Extract OMOD file in the archive to "(Oblivion install folder)\obmm\mods\"
2. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
3. Make sure the icon by the mod name is green/tan.
4. Double-click the the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen.
5. After the install process has finished, icon should turn blue.
6. DarNify Books in Wrye Bash.

Go to http://darnified.net/forums/index.php?topic=14.0 for detailed instructions.

7z Install

1. Extract archive to Oblivion\Data.
2. Copy the desired fonts to Oblivion\Data\fonts
3. Edit "My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini" to use the new fonts.

SFontFile_1 will depend on your choice (see 4.4).

4. Custom options (custom_files folder)

4.1: If you're using AF/KCAS/Realistic Leveling for leveling, copy KCAS_levelup_menu.xml to "Data\menus". Remove the KCAS_ prefix. Set the "_KCAS" setting in stats_config.xml to &true;.
4.2: The classic inventory can be installed by copying the contents of the "classic_inventory" folder to the "Data" folder.
4.3: If you're using Trollf's "Loading Screens Themed Replacer", copy trollf_loading_menu.xml to the "Data\menus" folder. Remove the trollf_ prefix.
4.4: The fonts folder has a selection of fonts suitable for replacing font 1 (preview included). Copy the desired .fnt and .tex pair to "Data\fonts", and edit the ini.
4.5 For the "No Quest Added popup" option, copy empty.xml to "Data\menus\generic", and name it quest_added.xml.

5. DarNify Books

DarNified Books is handled in Wrye Bash from v1.3.1. You need Wrye Bash 1.54+.
To DarNify your books, Rebuild Patch and select "Tweak Assorted->DarNify Books".

Uninstall OMOD

1. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
2. Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen, click Yes. (icon should turn green)

Uninstall 7z

1. Delete the files you don't want.
2. Edit your ini to the original font setup:

Usage

All config files are in "Data\menus\prefabs\darn". The in game settings are in hudmainmenu_config.xml, and the name of the setting to adjust is displayed in parenthesis at the end of the help text when hovering the setting in game.

In general, the files are named similarly to their core files with a "_config" at the end. The Map Menu is configured in map_config.xml, etc. All the new (1.3.0) options can be configured there. If you're installing via OBMM, the filenames and their config files are listed in the descriptions.

Compatibility

If you have other ui mods installed some menus may conflict, ie. some of my menus rely on screen real estate not being occupied, and therefore some overlap can occur. When mixing mods, make sure the matching config file (if present in the archive) is included. inventory_config.xml should always accompany inventory_menu.xml. Using BTMods inventory_config.xml with my inventory_menu.xml will produce strange results.

See paragraph 4.x of the "7z Install" section for specific compatability menus included.

nGCD: Use the levelup_menu.xml provided with nGCD.
Raised Spellmaking Enchantments Limits/Supreme Magicka/L.A.M.E: This funcionality is already part of DarNified UI. The settings are in enchantmentsetting_config.xml.
Immersive Interface: This mod should not be used in conjunction with DUI. The HUD can be configured to look and function just like it.
Natural Environments: This mod includes modified gfx for some of the hud elements. Take care not to include the textures/menus* folders when installing this.
Keychain: This mod is not compatible (nor required) with the default inventory. May cause lag.
OblivionXP Levelling: Use the Stats Menu and LevelUp Menu included with OXP. OBMM will report a conflict with this, but no files will be overwritten.

Known Issues or Bugs

- When you reach top rank in a faction, the next rank label will read 'DUMMY'. There are three fixes for this (in preferred order):

1. Get the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296.
2. Get the Faction Rank Fix: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5862 or http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12039.
3. Use this workaround that will hide the next rank info completely:
Open stats_config.xml, change <_s4fnrv> &true; to <_s4fnrv> &false; .

- As of v1.3.0, the HUD functions as a settings repository for the other menus, and is a required menu. The Breathmeter for example, takes it's alpha value from the hud. If the hud doesn't have that value on offer, the alpha will be 0, which is invisible... This may be possible to work around, and I will look into it if there's a serious demand for it.

FAQ

Q: Why is my hud cut off at the bottom?
A: Make sure the iSafeZone* values in the ini are set to default (20).

Q: My browser gives me some rubbish error message when I open the xml files!
A: Open them with a normal text editor. Do not use Word or anything that inserts formatting codes.

Q: What is that small bar below my weapon?
A: That's the durability bar. It shows the health of your currently equipped weapon.

Q: My durability bar doesn't go all the way up. Why?
A: It has a notch @100%. Once you reach expert level in armorer, it will fill up completely (125%).

Q: Is it compatible with DarkUI?
A: Not out of the box. Gothic251 has made http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11280 for that.

Q: My loot menu lags. Why?
A: That's there in the default menu as well. Time required to open this menu increases with the number of items in your inventory.

Q: My resolution is < 1024 and ...
A: Anything below 1024 will look bad. I suggest using vanilla BTMod, DarkUI, or the default config in this case.

Q: I'm making some adjustments to some settings and nothing happens, wtf?
A: The settings you're adjusting are probably overridden. This will most likely change in the future.

Q: I'm editing the ini and nothing changes, wtf?
A: Make sure you're editing the right one (My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini).

Man Im wondering just how stupid I am - however Im not yet sure if the problem is solved - but first a diversionary question:

Recently ive been fiddling with RAEVWD and LOD settings etc. Ive been making small changes to what I thought was oblivion.ini. What infact I have been changing is this file:

D:\Games\Oblivion\Oblivion_default.ini

Now ive been wondering why none of the changes ive been recently making have had any noticable ingame effect (like tree draw distance etc).

So following your instructions just now i went to (im in Vista64) \documents\mygames\oblivion and indeed in there is Oblivion.ini

Whats annoying is that when you said "delete the oblivion.ini file" - I deleted this one: D:\Games\Oblivion\Oblivion_default.ini NOT this one: \documents\mygames\oblivion\oblivion.ini and indeed in there is Oblivion.ini

So before I do anything else, can i check:
1) should i have deleted \documents\mygames\oblivion\oblivion.ini in the first place, rather than the Oblivion-default.ini that i deleted?
2) why dosnt OBMM currently launch? (as there is an Oblivion.ini file currently sat in \documents\mygames\oblivion\

Man am i getting confused here

I just wanted to confirm what Damage went threw.

I have a fresh install with no mods activated yet (except the DLC, SI, KOTN official and unofficial patches). I ran into the C# script compile window with obmm 1.1.11 version. I then downloaded the upgrade patch to make my obmm 1.1.12. I then tried to activate DarNified UI 1.3.1 again and then ran into the obmm dump issue. So I then deleted my games folder oblivion ini. I started up oblivion so that it makes me a new ini. I then activated DarNified UI 1.3.1 again and it was smooth sailing.

I haven't tested it in game yet, (In the process of activating my freshly created omods) but I just wanted to confirm the issue is resolved this way.

Mod detection:
- For OXP/KCAS/AF/Realistic Levelling, it will detect if it's active
- For Loading screens, it will detect if the esp is in the Data folder

The latter is in case the screens are in the Bashed patch. If you have it in the folder, but not active or Bashed - don't select it.

Persuasion Config:
This has options for cinematic style and NPC name text options.

Location alignment:
If you choose either left or right aligned text, it will move outside the location frame image. Best to turn it off if you want an alignment other than center.

http://ui.darnified.net/wip/1.3.2/darnified%20ui%20b2%201.3.2.zip - OMOD only. This requires OBMM 1.1.12.

If you have OXP installed, the mod will be colored red. That's ok - no files will be overwritten.

Hi there Darn,

Unfortunately, I cannot say this worked for me. After the little bit of confusion earlier regarding where the oblivion.ini file actually was i did the following:

Went to a backup i made last night of my entire Oblivion directory and restored oblivion_default.ini back to D\games\oblivion
Darn beta is already de-activated
i deleted oblivion.ini from documents\mygames\oblivion
started a game
loaded a save no problem (i know the oblivon.ini was deleted as im now in some appaling low resolution)
quit the game
a new oblivion.ini was now in my documents\mygames\oblivion
i re-activated the beta
went back in game
loaded my last save - instant CTD.

if i do this without Darn beta activated it loads no problem

Any more thoughts?

No. I launch Oblivion through Wyre.

So i launch Wyre, through Wyre i launch OBMM and activate the beta. then i close down OBMM.
Wyre is still open and i launch Oblivion through Wyre (as this launches through OBSE)
Wyre then autocloses as Oblivion launches.

I can also confirm that ive just de-activated the beta
reactivated 1.3.1
answered all the install questions, overwrote my fresh new ini and it launched oblivion
no problems at all getting into any of my savegames

so its not a problems with OBMM, Wyre or OBSE....but something is happening that is different between the beat and 1.3.1 (or possible some interaction between beta and Wyre/OBMM/OBSE?)

This does not need any of the OBSE 16 betas does it? Im running the stable 15a

Just thinking out loud here

Right.

so i can launch oblivion (via the oblivion.exe - not wyre) with 1.3.1 no problems and have access to save games
i deactivated 1.3.1 via OBMM (launched through OBMM.exe not through Wyre) and then deleted my oblivion.ini
launched a game via oblivion.exe
loaded a save no worries
exited oblivion
ini file has been re-created
launed obmm via its own exe and re-activated 1.3.2 beta and answered the questions, said yes to the overwrites
closed obmm and launched oblivion via its own exe
gets into the game but as soon as i click on a savegame to load it CTD's

this happens without using wyre in any way.

all i have left to try now is deactivating all my esm's (im running FCOM and thats it) - and its ordered with BOSS and has been stable since install a month ago. However the new beta may be interfering with one of the esms?

what i cant understand is why 1.3.1 works fine through OBMM 1.1.12 but beta does not...oblivion itself is stable...it crashed to desktop before you even get the loading screen.

i could try starting a new game? (does this wipe my current saves?)

Hey DarN, have you looked into the latest advancements in OBSE and Pluggy's ability to interact with the UI XML? I know a long time ago you had mentioned some things that you would like to do if you had the ability to affect the UI with script and vice versa - does the latest releases allow you to do any of that stuff?

Hey DarN, have you looked into the latest advancements in OBSE and Pluggy's ability to interact with the UI XML? I know a long time ago you had mentioned some things that you would like to do if you had the ability to affect the UI with script and vice versa - does the latest releases allow you to do any of that stuff?

SirFrederik pm'ed me about that, but I haven't had a chance to check those out yet. 1.3.2 and a game called Fallout 3 happened you see.

He says saving settings should be possible in-game though, so I'll revisit the idea asap.

Did i post the correct info for you above? There was a heck of a lot and I wasnt sure if you were still waiting for me to post something or if you were puzzling over it or if you have given up on figuring whats going on with my CTD's

i can use 1.3.1 but it would be nice to be able to use later versions of the UI (especially if you make the OBSE changes you mention)

I just downloaded that last one you put up and it didn't work. I was just trying to rebuild patch again just incase. I will test out the new one as well.

it certainly looks like we are the only people testing right now. im in the UK and its pretty late but im more than happy to help test stuff with you as it does seem that 1.3.2 cased me more problems that most

its possible due to me being on vista 64 - so much of Oblivion makes me jump through extra hoops beacuse of this....but anyhow...im very interested to know what your "culprit" was. you cant just fix it and then keep silent thus upholding your genius status. you need to show your humanity and underlying fallability!
