Data Folder filled up

Post » Thu Feb 10, 2011 8:35 pm

I'm in need of an expert or at least someone who knows a bit more than me. The thing is I have tweaked my Fallout 3 game for some time and even messed abit around in the Geck. Using F03Edit I've masterrestored and masterupdated quite a few times and now my data folder is filled with *.esp.backup files. Is there any way I can get rid of these as there's 5-6 of each esp meaning my data folder is getting a bit out of hand. I assume it is not supposed to be this way. Some advice would be appreciated.

Just delete them. If your game is working correctly you don't need them for anything. FO3Edit's Master Update and Master Restore makes them, you can pretty much delete them right after running it, i too had several hundred files taking several hundred megabytes due to my constant tinkering with the load order.

Yeah I wish the MasterUpdate function came with the option to turn the backup making thing off... Or at least keep it limited to 1-2 backups per file.

Thanks. All gone. Didn't want to ruin my game by deleting things that are neccesary. Odd that I could find anything by googling it. Or maybe it's just me that svcks at googling :P

If you maximize the window, then sort files by type, they'll collect up top where they're easier to multiselect/toss.

There is a way to adjust your view to sort files by extension and this makes it easier to spot them - if your one of those convinced that masterupdate/restore is necessary.

I wish Elminster would return and make one last push through on this tool to provide GUI menus and the option to not only not make a back up but also back them up elsewhere.

That would make it near perfect.

Yeah, my backup folder is getting filled with them too as I'm constantly messing around in the GECK and with the Load Order. I was also afraid to delete them. Now, after reading this. They will be deleted.
