I have been unable to install Fallout 3 on my Windows 7 PC with the disk. I received this error:
Feature transfer error
Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Fallout 3
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)
I read in a Microsoft forum in a post from Microsoft (Praseetha K, 2011) that I should copy the disk to my hard drive and try to install from there. However, I received a similar error:
Can't read the source file or disk.
data2
Type: Cabinet File
Size: 5.24 GB
Microsoft suggested persons with this issue should seek aid from Bethesda in this instance.
It's my understanding that my disk may be scratched. Is there a work-around, such as a way of registering my disk so there is a digital back-up copy of the game?
