Dating a girl taller than you

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:52 am

So I started dating this girl thats like maybe about 2 to 2 and 1/2 inches taller than me, and it just feels kinda weird. I mean, the relationship's great and I don't have any deal-breaking problems with it or anything, it just feels kind of wierd, and I can't really figure out why. Anyone else that has dated or is dating a girl taller than him feel the same way?

I'll have her if you don't want her. I'm statistically likely to be taller than her anyway.

you probably are, but I mean I'm 5 foot 11, making her around 6 feet 1 inch, so it's not like I'm an unnaturally short guy or anything

She's still small then. :D

You could wear platform shoes I guess. But then you'd only be able to take her to 70s themed bars and stuff.

Well, either she's special or you're less discriminating than me OP. I don't even consider girls who are taller than me for relationships. It's off putting.

I probably have some kind of complex, but what they hey.

Can't say I've ever done. Never met any girls who are taller than me.

I don't date girls unless I actually think the relationship has a chance of lasting awhile, hopefully even go the distance, meaning eventually engaged and married (I'm not one of the guys that just wants to bang her and leave, believe it or not)... so yea, I mean I'm not ready to say I love you and move into the same house or anything, but one could say she is special to me

I don't think it would stop me if I really liked her. I'm nearly 6'3, I've only seen 1 woman taller than me, but I've seen a few my height or very close to it.

I've got it! Because she's taller than you, you're afraid that she's more masculine than you, and you feel weird because you have to be constantly on your guard in case she castrates you in your sleep and makes you call her daddy.

Being only 5 '8 I have dated a girl taller than me on more than one occasion. It does feel rather strange. Up to half an inch taller in the limit I'll go to before it starts feeling somewhat strange. I can't exactly explain it either.

Yeah, there's that. There's also the lingering fear that she'll make me wear gym clothes two sizes too small and make me play rugby

Who cares if she is taller then you. You're the MAN of the house. Is she lanky?

Haha I'm pretty similar, I don't actually date a girl unless I consider it worthwhile, but I still have no problem with one night stands.

Anyways, to answer your question, if it bugs you now, just think like 5 years down the road. You may be used to her being a little taller, but it could also just build up. I would say if it makes you uncomfortable then leave her, I know it sounds shallow but no point in tormenting yourself.

I'm about average height (5' 8"), and I once dated a really tall woman from Brazil who was about 5-6 inches taller than me - she could probably have kicked my ass ;-)

I didn't have any problem with it, she was a lot of fun and it was something new for me to date an "Amazon."

I have a good friend, however, who has a major hangup about dating women that are even 1 inch taller than him. I'm not sure where that comes from. I guess it has something to do with insecurity about being short?

I think both tall and short women tend to be more attracted to taller guys, so in general it is a bit uncommon for a shorter man to date a taller woman.

My girlfriends a good 2 inches taller than me. It'd be weird if I was taller than her now that I'm used to it.

I never think about height unless there's a big difference. I'd prefer a girl shorter than me.

Dude i'm 5' 7" here and she would be way taller than me *well most women are taller than me except for the petite sized ones*. You should be lucky and it shouldn't feel weird at all I mean atleast you aren't close to being a hobbit here.

Dating an amazon advice: Just don't push it, we're still gentle and warm-hearted females. Until you get us angry, as that might get uglier then getting someone angry who would just spit and scratch.
Joking aside, it's just weird because Western society is still very much stereotyping in their mind, even if outwards tolerance usually shrugs that away. You'll get over that eventually. ^_^

If I remember correctly, most of us here are actually pretty tall, so it wouldn't be a common problem here. I think I've seen a similar thread before actually, and it was generally agreed that it all depends on you and whether it's okay with you. No one can decide your preferences for you.

I'm about 6"2 and I'm only fifteen, so I'm hoping I'll never have this problem...
