Dawguard hide and seek question

Post » Thu Jun 06, 2013 5:59 am

Gunmar just gave me a quest to kill a vampire pretending to be a pilgrim.

The problem is this vampire is in Honeyside and I can't get to it,at least thats where the quest markers point to.

I only have about 5,000 gold and I am not a thane of Riften.

Is the only way to complete this quest now is to become thane and buy the house?

I really don't want to buy this house in Riften.

I looked everwhere I can think of for a third entrance but haven't found any,I even swam around looking for some kind of underwater passge to get in but to no luck.

Or would it help to reload a previous save and hope he gives me something else next time?

Are you on PC? You can use "unlock" on the doors with the console. If not on PC go back to a previous save before you got the quest. You should always save before a radiant quest because they like to bug out.

No I'm on xbox.

I used to have a bunch of saves but I just deleted a lot of them because my game kept freezing up.

I still have several saves and I guess the last one prior to that quest is only about an hour of replaying to get there.

I just didn't want to replay if there was another way to get in or complete the quest.

Thanks.

Freezeups are normally related to the new patch it appears not being completely integrated into the game. Clearing the cache on X-Box cleared up the problem for me.

To clear cach: Hold down left and right buttons and X button simultaneously as soon as you start the game and hold them down until the Beth Logo appears on the start screen. This cleared up my freezing problem.

Freezes appear to be caused by Patch 1.9 download conflicting with the earlier patches currently being used by the game. Once cach is cleared the game now runs Patch 1.9 seamlessly with the older patches. Hope this helps!

How do you hold down the left and right buttons?Do you mean the shoulder buttons maybe?Or the thumb stick buttons?

It has only started to freeze up after patch 1.9 was installed.

Absolutely correct, patch 1.9 instigated it. On X-Box it is the shoulder buttons, the ones above the trigger and not the joysticks + X
