Dawn Era and Time

Post » Fri Feb 11, 2011 4:02 pm

Hey all,

i was perusing some threads and came across MK's posting of "The Dawn Era was the End of the Previous Kalpa. The new Kalpa begins with the first day of the Merethic Era."

So I have some questions about it. I was wondering if all Kalpas end up with the same races or if we just don't know. I mean do we still end up with Altmer, Nords etc or something similar or something completely different.

and since the Dawn Era was the end of the previous kalpa and not the beginning of it and since the Dawn era doesn't have a linear time then maybe we are all still in the Dawn Era. The world is being continuously destroyed and recreated. Hence while we appear to be in a certain Kalpa, in reality we exist in all and each individual Kalpas at the same time. Akatosh is being created and he is destroying the world at the same time. There was a passage somewhere where is was on a perch somewhere and became loads of shards.

So perhaps what we perceive as linear time is just us experiencing different shards of time passing but in reality all shards are interconnected and we exist in all of them. This means that the spirits have multiple versions but are the same one at the same time. It solves a lot of the metaphysical questions that have been asked. It permits the Dragon to break since there is no linear time and everything can happen at the same time. It permits Vivec to be a god and a mortal at the same time. It permits Dagon to be the leaping demon and a Deadric prince. It permits Akatosh to be Alduin to be Auriel etc. It permits the world to be destroyed but be the same at the same time

I think you see whereI am going to.
After all the universe in our own world might be like a soapbubble connected with loads of more soapbubbles, where the bubbles connect you get thousand of possibilities.

Anyone with thoughts and clarifications and who just wishes to say i am wrong is most welcome.

We all exist in a dream and are recycled.

Somebody needs to lay off the sugar.

Or lay on it. I can never remember which.

Both at the same time perhaps ;)

But seriously, it is at least possible

Insert game. Play for long enough to get multiple journal entries. Are they arranged linearly? Good, we have linear time. :woot:

This theory fails to take into account that this kalpa is different from the others. And the last line of the post is random.

In what way is this Kalpa different?

And last line fits in with Dreamsleaves etc..

That is the question isn't it. Maybe someday we'll know, when Alduin returns to reclaim it... :obliviongate:

Your post isn't about dreamsleeves though.

So in effect what i have said may still be possible. We don't know. Maybe we don't know because this is all we have experienced so far.

Dreamsleaves recycle souls. This world is being recycled. One can see the similarities. But yes this post doesn't concentrate on dreamleaves.

The occurence of a Dragon Break is evidence that we are now experiencing linear time, as only in the brief (or infinite depending on your viewpoint) moment of the Dragon Break does time cease it's linearity. Anything and everything can and does happen, it's only when we return to linear time that limited possibilities return (this gives the jills quite a headache).

If Kalpa 1 merges with Kalpa 2, the plane of their convergence is the Dawn, or Dragon Break. The second usurps the place of the first, and Time stabilizes. Two is an example number. I assume the number is infinite.

Of special note is the Blue Star, which the Alesstics call ‘Mnemoli', that runs through this part of the Aurbis every untime.

Perhaps the vanishing-god, Time as Free-Serpent, unbound from the universe by new Convention?

Kalpa --> Period that ends when ever Alduin / Satakal eats the whole word and everything in it and the spirits start a new. Spirits typically manage to jump over / side step / avoid being forgotten / re spawn.

Dragon Break / Dawn Era --> Time when multiple narratives coexist. Said narratives are typically enforced by divine beings. Typically end when divine entities decided to stop dikeing around and Jills retcon everything back together. People generally go WTF.

They're not to be mixed. <_<

This might be the case indeed, but it also doesn#t preclude what i have said and the brief but infinite moment of the Dragon break that you have mentioned could also be suddenly us experiencing the infinite loop that we live in

Although if there are any books that show how the spirits can sidestep kalpas or jump over then that might help. Or if they exist outside time as has been said before then they don't need to respawn as they are already there watching the ever cyclical universe that is being destroyed and recreated at the same time.

dunno, it's nice to think about

Monomyth much?

"Pretty soon Akel caused Satak to bite its own heart and that was the end. The hunger, though, refused to stop, even in death, and so the First Serpent shed its skin to begin anew. As the old world died, Satakal began, and when things realized this pattern so did they realize what their part in it was. They began to take names, like Ruptga or Tuwhacca, and they strode about looking for their kin. As Satakal ate itself over and over, the strongest spirits learned to bypass the cycle by moving at strange angles

Mnemoli are orphaned from Nirn-star, yes. As I understand, which I may not.

Jumble of thinks:

Seems that we might ask what happens to the gods when they 'move at angles' if they are what is referred to as the strongest spirits - normally they retain all their memories when they 'die' - if that is what happens to them - but is there a dreamsleeve in between Kalpas? Is one needed by the realities of the Grey Maybe between Kalpas?

The implication of that section of the Monomyth proweler seems to be that when the Kalpa ends (assuming there is no dreamsleeve for them to go to) mortals can remember what existed before the Kalpa's end but not the interregnum because there is nothing to say the Jills put them back together with their memories impaired.

Could the Dreamsleeve be 'located' inside Sakatal?

Ok so does everything get destroyed then and reborn or just the Mundus?

Escaping outside time and space and moving on to different dimensions could help save spirits but if the whole of the universe is eaten up then where do they move into?
Also if the Leaper demon and his friend were saving pieces of the mundus to add to the next kalpa , where were they saving them to?

The Dreamsleeve is outside Satakal.

Mmh. I don't think it's a good idea to start on the "what ifs" if you haven't quite grasped the "what" yet.

1. Satakal came about as the result of Satak the great snake eating himself under influence of his hungry stomach Akal. Their interplay is the Aurbis. So the question where the Dreemsleeve is located is a bit silly.

2. The Dreemsleeve is part of the mortal plane. Cycle of Life and death and all that. Compare similar behaviour of Deadra and the waters of Oblivion. Not related to Kalpas.

3. ... mortals can remember what existed before the Kalpa's end but not the interregnum because there is nothing to say ... Source? Don't think that makes any sense.

First was Void, which became split by AE. Anu and Padomay came next and with their first brush came the Aurbis.

The Void is the Dreamsleeve. It's the primordial waters; our Dream. All life came from it, and to it, all life returns.

Or is the Dreamsleeve our conduit to the Void?

If I may poke this thread again.
I would like to know what Lady N thinks of the theory as well; she has a theory about a parabolic gradient creation. In effect a closed loop if I understood which gets to repeat itself.

While we might experience linear time, in a metaphysical way we might all be in that weird everlasting cycle.

Not pretending to know much, just asking questions so that we can have a discussion and learn something new.
