Dawnguard dog, Vampire dog, or Mutt

Post » Tue Jul 23, 2013 8:52 pm

What do you guys think is cutest dogs in the game? I personally think the dawnguard dogs are pretty dang cute, the vampire dogs kind of look like doberman pinchers, I am trying to think what kind of dog, is the "stray dog", the dawnguard dogs look like huskies to me or maybe malmouts,

I have a soft spot for meeko because he's all on his lonesome, but I changed him into a huskie.

That is one sweet picture, I like lizzy in the Brotherhood Sanctuary, having tame animals is always a plus :) I use the sky of voice perk to tame most of the animals, besides a few, it is interesting to note that when in Solstehim, the perk does not work on the albino spiders, is it because these spiders are magical in nature, that the perk does not work? This might be a dumb question, but why do the trolls, ice wraiths, these spider pods, and others not abide to the voice perk? Do the trolls have some sort of natural resistance against this, or possibly, does someone go and give them some sort of resistance, I am just thinking in theory, how do these animals not abide by the laws? Or are they meant to not follow the laws or is there something that affects these animals from being tame? It feels like something of the sort with the standing stones in Solstheim

I dislike huskies the most. I don't like them much in real life, really don't feel medieval to me at all. They're traditionally a primitive tribal innuit dog that the western world only took notice of in north america in the 1800s to move supplies around in the arctic. There's nothing they could do in a medieval setting that some other dog couldn't do better. As hunters, guardians or combatants they're grossly outclassed by more advanced specialists.

I like the wolfhounds the best but don't mind the vampire dogs either, the vampire dogs remind me of bandogs, which are a modern recreation of a medieval dog that was used to catch and subdue poachers and wild boar.

You know there was this old species thought of as the zonkie, it is a mixed breed of zeebra and donkie, I hear there are breeders trying to get this species to come back! I am not dog historian lol, but aren't huskies of Japanese origin?

I am a dog historian, and no.

Loosely kind of, the husky is basically a spitz, japanese have a few native spitz breeds, but the spitz type of dog went everywhere the mongoloid race went. There are a few huskies and other very similar dogs that aren't called huskies. They're basically an eskimo dog, so like innuits and sami indians and siberians and etc etc, the asian looking arctic people, be they in europe, asia, or america. This dog type is their dog, these people took it to japan and became the japanese and their dogs became the akita, shiba, ainu (and a few others), they took it to north america and it became the malamute (there's an alaskan husky too but it's a modern mongrel creation for the iditarod) and sami indians took it to scandinavia and it's become a few breeds there (norweigan elkhound and karelian bear dog and etc etc).

Like I said westerners/europeans haven't had much to do with this dog type until it proved useful for traversing the arctic tundra of canada and alaska, they aren't much good for anything else.

I love Irish wolfhounds. My neighbor used to have two, I was terrified when I first met them - I was just a child and they were huge. But I quickly learned they were very gentle.

Huskies get points for being armored.

I own a https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/439516/Me/Gabe/December%202012-January%202013%20-%202%20years%20old/thm_phpectxEU.jpg and huskies were the closest thing to that in game, so that's why I like them.

There is only one 'really good' dog in the game (who levels up to level 50): Vigilance!

The guy who sells him is still alive right now in my game, which isn't guaranteed because in previous playthroughs he's deceased (so no Vigilance).

Every time I walk by, a little voice in my head says 'buy the dog! buy the dog!' heheh...

Don't know if he'd co-exist with my daughter's little fox though...?

I think IMO they made the default dog (ie. Meeko) unspeakably cute.

Who could resist?

Now if only they didn't bark... constantly.

I almost killed Barbas myself, LoL

Some guy made a mod that silenced the incessant barking.

But the dog's little dog mouth still barked...

Aaaargh! They have cut poor Meeko's vocal chords! :(

It was awful (worse that the barking) so... no more dogs for me.

And what province do Canada and Alaska look like? :D

Also, I was not terribly happy when I 1st bought Skyrim and realized that there is only one species of dogs in the game and it wasn't a terribly beautiful one either. :P Huskies made me happy but I actually haven't had one as a follower yet. + I'd like them more if not for that silly armor they wear.

Now, the kind of dog that I'd love to have as a follower (and in real life) is a german sheppard-wolf hybrid, saw a friend's neighbour had one on his farm for defending against wolves, and he was partly a wolf himself, and he was gigantic. Kinda looked like http://dog-photos.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Giant-german-shepherd.jpg but he was much darker, had longer hair and had a much more feral muzzle. The most beautiful dog I have ever seen.

Definitely the Dawnguard dogs. I actually barely even discovered today that they existed. Took one with me as soon as I saw them. There's no doubt the death hounds look pretty awesome, because I love their design, but I'll take the cuter, friendly dog over the demon dogs. The domestic dog, I'm not really a fan of. Not the kind of dog I'd choose to have. But none of these three dogs beat the Mabaris from Dragon Age, but that's another story.
