9 Days! ARGHHHHHH!

Post » Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:55 pm

Okay, now that I got that out, and we're on the final countdown to eternal bliss (don't judge :P) I was wondering who was going to crank out a full playthrough on one of the previous Fallouts this week before New Vegas hits the shelves. I'm thinking Fallout 3 this week, only because I can't get FO2 to run on my stupidly overpowered computer and the graphics look like I'm playing the game in MS Paint. So, I thought I would try to be an evil character which I've never tried. I'm just wondering how this may affect the game over all, or if it has any affect on the main quest.

I'm on the post apocalyptic film marathon in my free time. Ive seen most, but if anyone could suggest a few then please feel free...

Evil characters are interesting to play, :P i find its more fun to go around killing everyone, but then it bites you in the ass later as most of your contacts, links and information sources are............dead :(

Set it to play in XP compatibility mode. Runs just fine.

I don't want to speed run Fallout 1, 2 or Tactics.
Just isn't fun to speed run on those games.
And I've played fallout 3 to death, it's not fun anymore.
So I'll keep myself preoccupied with Dead Space and L4D2: The Sacrifice. :)

Oh and reading Wasteland.

I should probably try to finish up Fallout 2, but I'm stuck with a pipe rifle and can't do anything. :meh:

Not going to play Fallout 3 though. Would probably make me feel bored when playing New Vegas.

How far in are you..? I was really disappointed with where the series seems to have stalled... Volume 4 is the last main story addition, and it ends with a cliffhanger... Volume 5 is a collection of stories that fill up the background on a bunch of characters (which is all well and good, but shoulda come out between vol. 3 and 4.... Still... a great series, hopefully the writer will give us more though.

Yeah he's writing Vol 5 (The real Vol 5... Which I guess is actually Vol 6) and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm currently at Vol 2 1/3 in, right when Goldie is shot. (Poor Goldie. :( )

btw: "The series was afflicted by serious delays after issue #26. Issue #27, originally planned for July 2009 was delayed to January 2010, mainly due to Johnston's involvement with Dead Space, Dead Space: Extraction and other projects"

So he had some other projects to attend to.
I'm glad he's let some of his creativity go to some other stuff and hope that he can now focus on Wasteland.

Same here as well. The americans here just complain how they have to wait 9 days till the game comes... We have to wait 11 days and TWO of those days we sit in the dark envying how americans are exploring the whole game before we get it into our hands.. <_<

I'm really looking forward to the next installment, since the series has kind of shifted away from the 'wandering' aspect that intrigued me in the early pages, and appears to be headed back in that direction in the final pages of Dog Tribes... What are your theories on Are-yass-I?

I can't get it to work. If I did not have the steam version of the game that would be an easy task. I've read through steam help, looked on the internet and followed the suggestions and it still wont work. :(

Haven't come far enough into it to have any specific theory.
So a quick pitch of a theory would probably be that it's a research lab where they tried to create extra ordinary humans with special gifts.
But I don't have much to back that theory up on.
Need to finish the first 5 volumes before I can really start to speculate on it. :)

Im starting back on Darksiders & finishing it and then possibly thinking about buying Resident Evil 5 for PC.

Oh and Fallout 2 will run on any computer, you need to go to NMA and download the resolution patch and also get the restoration project for Fallout 2 while your at it.

Don't worry, I won't spoil anything, other than to say:
Spoiler
by the end of volume 5 they still have not revealed what it is.
Ever since I thought of it, I've been unable to get past the idea that it is a bastardization of
Spoiler
the spelling: AREA 51

I found something that worked! It pointed me to change the settings in the ddraw.ini file in C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\fallout2

Works like a champ now!
