7 Days to Die while waiting for...

Foreword

I'm sure many of you like me are waiting for the next Bethesda open world game(BOWG). It's been a year since I put Skyrim down and haven't looked back. Not that i don't love TES, (I put a grand of my time in SR alone), it's just that Sci-Fi is more my cup of tea. I went back and put another 500+ hrs into FO3 but now after a total time in all BOWG's since MW approaching 5k, I'm just burnt on all that has come before. I will give SR credit for actually getting me to finish the MQ for the first time in any BOWG though.

Now, two months ago I suddenly arrived in the present day and joined the rest of the world by purchasing a smart phone(WP8). It's a great all in one device for on the go and it has given me a vehicle to play games I would never play on my PC. I started with games like Wordament and Tetris Blitz but soon found an old retro style turn based JRPG called Dragons Blade. That was a blast from the past that lasted about a week before I realized why i don't play such games anymore. Luckily it only cost 2$ so I looked for something else. What I found is a game called Survivalcraft which as you can imagine is based on Minecraft. SC is a simplified version of MC.

I never really got into Minecraft because it was so rudimentary compared to MW and OB which is what I was playing at the time of it's release. I DO like the sandbox nature of voxel game play and the exploration and replay value of random generation but without skill progression and modern graphic/controls it's not something I will spend my time at my 2k rig playing. My smartphone on the other hand is with me at times when I have minutes to kill and nothing else to do. Enter Survivalcraft

and two weeks of crack like addiction figuring out how to stay alive long enough to get fully established. Once i figured out exactly what I needed to do and have and no skill level impeding me from obtaining it then all the challenge was lost and i got bored with it just like i knew i would with Minecraft. On my phone i can still get some time killing out of it in creative mode but my PC will never see MC.

Topic

I have however been pipe dreaming since Minecraft's release an RPG/Minecraft hybrid with modern graphics full character customization and skill trees. Never thought anybody would take that on but low and behold, the Steam early release alpha game http://store.steampowered.com/app/251570/

I'm not a huge fan of eat/drink/sleep game play but throw in zombies, shotguns and structural physics and it is somehow justified. I really want to play this game but it doesn't have a demo and the game's forum is no place to find impressions.

That is why i am here hoping that some of you have it and can give your impressions on whether or not it's ready enough for play.

Any comments on the video and feature list found at the link would also be welcome.

I'm hearing better things about Rust, although that isn't focused on zombies (although they are in there I believe, unless they took them out). And of course Rust is more of an MMO.

Is that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ring_(2002_film) circulating around again? 7 Days to Die sounds like an interesting game.
