5 Days Early Access: What Do You Plan to Do?

Post » Tue Feb 25, 2014 10:54 pm

For those with 5 days early access, what do you plan on doing in the game?

Examples: Will you rush through the game and try to be the first official emperor? Will you loot every possible crate and barel? Will you try to beat the game before the release date? Will you spend several hours perfecting your character and build?

Since I will only be playing the 5 days early access near the launch date (as the game comes out right before finals and graduation): I will attempt to create my ultimate character (s) and get my character names reserved. I will search every crate, barel, and chest in the Wailing Prison and get my character set up. I will leisurely take my time through the starting area and attempt to roleplay. I might do a few quests and try to group up and make some friends/allies. I will scour every inch of the starting island and find as many resources as possible. If I reach level 10 fairly early, I will finally join in on PvP.

Think you highly underestimate the amount of people who preordered this game.

Barely anyone playing? The preorder has been massively successful, from what I've seen. Top seller at those retail outlets that report numbers.

And they scale the server capacity to the number of players, and the "layers" or phases are dynamically population controlled as well, so I don't actually think there'll be that big a difference between EA and release as far as player experience and performance goes.

As for plans, same as what I would do starting at release  Play my character, slowly, exploring and questing and listening to NPCs and crafting, and not rushing  Dungeon runs with guildies if they don't all outlevel me by too much, and grouping with my casual gamer friends!

I'll look for resource nodes and stack up crafting mats. Also, I'll try to get all the names that I will use.

Well, what I meant by "barely anyone playing" was that IE preorders have a cap and there most likely won't be millions or even thousands of players on at that time. In my mind, I was comparing it to the amount of people from the last beta. Sorry if I was/am confusing. ^.^

You think barely anyone will be in the game for the head start...LOL good one!

I'll be playing the game...same as I would be if I was starting on the 4th.

For once, I am not going to be obsessed with outleveling or outskilling people. I'm just gonna chill and soak it all in.

First thing will be trying to get those character names I want for all my chars. After that it is just creating the perfect charakter to my liking and then enjoying the game. Taking time and listening to the voice overs.

I guess I will be playing 5 days earlier than the regular option. Just playing like normal when time permits as I have this thing called "self-control". I pick lore friendly names and something original and often have little trouble finding names not already used. I do not reserve names I do not plan on playing. That is too selfish for me to consider.

I also never book time off for a video game. That is just about the biggest waste of a day off I could possibly imagine. My days off are reserved for special occasions and vacations.

Only the physical imperial edition has a cap. Digital doesn't, nor does normal preorder.

My plan.. create my two mains, that I have in every game. Maybe three, since we have three factions to play with. I want to experience all sides of the story after all. One name is picked out, another thinking about, the third.. sigh.. I have 4 weeksish.

Then.. get the heck out of the starter area before the REAL stampeded hits on the fourth on at least one of them. Yeah. I plan on enjoying the game, smelling the roses, then picking them for Alchemy, :P but i don't feel like answering, "How do you make iron ingots?" 20 times an hour.

Got 5 days off work booked in ;] I will just enjoy the game, not rushing to ding lvl 50. Quests, books, story, regular PvP to get used to fighting people

You mean physical edition, there is no limit on digital IE, my friend just got his digital IE last Sunday. You will be surprised how many people will be playing during early access.

Also they have said that in November last year they have had 300K players online and I'm sure that this years betas had even bigger numbers after EU players joined in on NA server. Curse.com had 500K keys to give away, I would not be surprised if they got close to a million players online during last event. I think that the start will be pretty good, looking at how many stress tests they are doing. I'm also hoping for the third beta access this weekend ;] They need 2 more weekends IMO to make sure that the start is smooth...

For me?
Priority One: RESERVE MY DAMN NAMES
Priority Two: Farm up crafting mats and level tradeskills before "official" launch or the 3 day window. I've always enjoyed being a big player in trading/crafting in MMOs.
Priority Three: Perhaps track down or start a trading guild or three?

Oh yeah, forgot the most important part, get all my work (school and otherwise) for the following 7-10 days finished!

Honestly, i don't really get why I have a 3 days early access instead of 5 just because i prefer to have the physical box. It kinda svcks but hey at least I get 3 days.

I really don't get the "reserve my name" but to each their own.

For me, I plan on actually playing instead of trying to find bugs, trying to see if quests work or not, trying to get into PvP, trying to level as quickly as I can to see if anything jumps out as broken (actually broken as in doesn't work) etc. Basically I'm looking forward to not viewing it as a beta :) I'll actually read the books (for example) or spend more time fishing etc.
