3-4 days to max level, then its endgame?.

Post » Fri Mar 07, 2014 9:55 pm

I don't know about the rest of you players, but i find this disheartening to say the least. Yes i did find the level 1-10 one tedious grind

that seemed to go on forever, but the thought of reaching the endgame in less then 1 week, scares the crap out of me.

And is scares me because that means that TESO will have its endgame content done in pretty much 2 weeks and we got

players asking for new content which will also be done in 1 week at the most.

The problem is that devs always underestimate the players ability to progress and complete content. I remember reading about

when WoW released new content, it was broken in 3 days by very dedicated groups of players, and then they have nothing

until the next update.

Now... ofcourse, a player with a job working 9-5 with kids and wife won't be able to spend much time playing TESO so it would

take considerably longer to reach 50+, as well as the few players who likes to actually read every line of text of every book

and every quest. But then you have the players like me, who chases the "carrot" at the end of the stick.. *ohh shiny*.. loot !.

During last weekend i reached 16 eventho i had multiple quests slowing me down due to buggs, and i farmed multiple dungeons

for loot as well as helping friends beat with quests. So for me, it'll probably take a bit longer to reach 50+, but it won't take 1 month,

maybe 1-2 weeks, then it's endgame.

I know the developers are preparing to release updated content every month. But just the fact of reaching max level that fast

if you put your mind to it, is frightening. Even in WoW and Rift i was always the fastest leveler, it took me 2 days to reach 60

when TrIon release their expansion for Rift, and i would grind to 40+ in a few days in WoW vanilla.

So... i'm just assuming that they have taken in consideration that some players will push for endgame, but reaching it in 3-4

days is still way to fast - even if you grind like mad.

Its gamers like you who devour content at extreme rates that end up hurting games like because the devs feel obliged to add time gated content etc in order to slow you down when you all complain that there is no content to do...

There's always going to be players who race to the end. Punishing the majority who don't isn't going to help the game. Who cares if some people "beat the game" withing 2 weeks? Just play how you want.

If you are even trying to rush though content like that then you are sort of missing the point of this game a bit. It's not an eating contest, it is a fine buffet at a cocktail party. Slow down and enjoy the canapes!

Take in the view now and again, do some crafting, go find those skyshards, explore a bit, walk along the beach, watch the monkeys, dance naked at a tavern.

Even roll and alt or two? Plenty to see and do out there!

Why rush it and miss more than 50% of the content?

*face palm* I just dont understand this mentality. Its not just level 1-10 that will be a tedious grind, the whole leveling process will be for you, that much is obvious.

I think its time to ask yourself why you play MMO's rather than asking the devs to cater to an unsustainable playstyle.

You people are missing the point. There's always players like this in MMOs. Telling them they're playing the game wrong won't change anything.

If you feel compelled to sleep 2 hours per day or share your character with someone in order to rush to max level, then that is your right to do so.

But if you skip most of the game content in order to gripe about a lack of content, then you will find little sympathy.

I could go on about how there is, and will be, plenty of endgame content, but that would be a waste of my time.

It is simply unrealistic to expect any game developer to create new content every single week.

You are a niche. There will never be a game that will cater to you.

So why should the devs cater to them? I mean if they don't want to take part of the content, then why should the developers make more content for them? They already have lots of it, they just ignore it.

This is very true....what I don't understand though is why they always come here afterward and complain about nothing to do...it's like they all have some sort of disorder or something.

I will roll alts, i will explore and i will do my best to enjoy the world and its content - even the stories.

but i stil found it scary how fast the max-level was achieved. It should be noted that the "3-4days" was a streamer who

did a /played which doesn't mean that he literally reached 50+ in just over a weekend, he just did it in maybe a few weeks,

a few hours at a time considering that he has a job..

So yes, maybe i jumped abit to conclusion. We'll see, its only 3 weeks left until we play for real, i can't wait.

5days pre-access FTW !.

The OP answered his own question. He says levels 1-10 are tediious, and he wants to push for max level as fast as possible, and there are players that will stop at nothing to do that.

What are we supposed to do about it, stop them?

I dont care what kind of game you design, there will "always be players like that". Designing content for them isnt going to change anything either.

Let them power grind then complain that there is nothing to do, and then they leave. That is the only possible outcome.

probably the only way to stop this would be a daily cap on experience gains

That's fine. But saying things like "I think it's time to start asking yourself why you play MMOs" is condescending and rude. They obviously find joy in playing that way. Everyone knows the devs aren't going to release new content every month to satisfy them. Just let them play, get their world firsts, and be done with it.

The only thing people should worry about is when there's a large number of player complaining that there's nothing to do. It's usually an hint that there's really not enough content.

I figure a month or more for my toon to reach max level, not going to rush going to enjoy the ride to end game, take in all the game has to offer, the story, and exploration etc, etc, no prize for being the first person to 50, and no one cares if you were, still not special..

I think ESO will be the firts game in a long time where my toon will feel like it is living in the world and not just playing through the world.

Time gated... never want to see that path, that path leads to the dark side..

:tops: Well said.

Do try to enjoy the ride and explore a bit. In the recent BETA tests I mainly ran through the blooming fields, catching insects and butterflies (got 70 of them) and then started fishing, enjoying the scenery and listening to the sounds around me.

But then, reaching max level after 72-96 hours as a powerplayer isn't all bad if you think about it. I still don't get why some people rush, especially in a game such as this where almost half the content is off the beaten path.

Knowing my game play style, it will take me 1 to 2 months to reach level 10 and that's play 6 hours a day :) I don't concern myself with getting to max as the fun to me is in the experience and not so called End Game, its just that, the end to me.

I feel sorry for people who power level and then find that all there is is grind and wait. I've been there myself in many games but now I just go as slow as possible and would buy potions to slow or stop levelling if they made them available.

Hit rush to max level to get epic lootz asap to brag about it,then cry about the lack of content in the forums, that is what tipically is.Skip dialogues and clicking the answer option without even reading and using leveling guides then bla bla how short the game is.About dedicated players breaking trought the new content,I am pretty sure that using addons like deadly boss and such made the game 50% easier for them, hopefully we dont see that one here.

That would be a poor idea imo. And I have no desire to stop someone from playing the game the way they want to. However I do have a desire stop them from complaining about it because it will never change. No game will ever develop content fast enough to appease people within this niche. New content once every month or two is the best that we can expect quality. Anything faster would be rushed, poorly done, and a poor business model.

Its not for me or you to decide what they find joyful. It's not rude or condescending at all, its just logic. This has been going on for how long now, in how many games? A certain group of people always rush past untold hours of carefully made content, get to max level as fast as possible, and then complain about how they busted the game and leave while causing a huge stink. If I was so ritually disapointed with a particular genre, I'd be asking myself why I continue to do it. It should be obvious nothing going to change, why suddenly is this gonna be THE game that power gamers cant crunch?

The devs obviously have stats showing exactly what level everybody is at and how fast people are devouring content. If they want to be profitable then obviously they need to cater to the masses but in this game, where a large portion of the player base come from the single player games, I think people like the OP will be in the minority. I think most players will indeed take their time, explore the world, craft and so on.

With the amount of voice acting, art design and so on that goes into creating content for this game, I can't see them really worrying too much about people who rush it and skip as much as possible because those people are not even experiencing that content. I imagine the devs will release new content at a rate that allows the majority of players to experience it, which will undoubtedly be too slow for the 'rushing' types like the OP.

Honestly, to the OP, I really don't think this is the game for you, well for PvE anyway. Maybe you would be more suited to PvP?

OP what is your suggestion to solve this issue?

The only way I can see is to limit xp per day or hour. The game already seems to have pretty much the slowest levelling curve of any game I have played.
