DDS Gimp & Blender

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:16 am

I came back to Modding, Gimp, and Blender. I was never good at setting the textures in Blender, but I recall Gimp did not pack DDS right. I managed to get DDS Converter 2 to crunch one by setting up and double clicking the file in the folder, but it doesn't (like last time I used it) accept input in its dialog in the normal sense. Otherwise I am unsure if I am even unwrapping UV correctly in Blender.

Please, any advice out there?

DDS converter 2 has a really weird way of imputting the file names, at least to me it's weird and unfriendly.

Suggestion: http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/downloads/list

I use the Gimp DDS plugin and have had no problem with it. You do have to remember to flatten the image before you save it. I usually keep the image in layers in a .xcf file, then when I'm ready to create the .dds file I just do 'Flatten' then 'Save' it as filename.dds.

Thanks, I'll give Gimp a shot, DDS converter in Vista requires me to tie a red string on my pinky and listen to the beastie boys played backwards. Anything is easier.
