Deacon Change Clothes Fix

Hey all,

I currently am using Deacon as a companion. I really enjoy his character, especially when he changes disguises on his own. I accidentally had him equip some clothes and ever since then he will not change disguises. I had him equip his normal "default" clothes(the white shirt) but he will just keep wearing those. ALSO, strangely he seems to equip another of that default clothes on top of the others, making him look fat and making it look like he has long sleeves that look like arms with seems... So, if anyone has some insight on how to get him back into his original disguise mode that would be fantastic. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm on PC so Console Commands are an option, Thanks.

Thanks to Harmony Sly on Steam

OK, found a workaround with the Console. Shouldn't mess anything, but as word of caution keep a gamesave handy.

  • While roaming with Deacon, open the Console with ~
  • Click on Deacon, the Console should bring up his NPC code
  • Type 'Inv' (without the quotes)
  • A list of all the objects in his inventory is appearing. The item we need to remove should be in the end, namely the piece of clothing you gave him. It should be listed as 'Locked', get the object ID.
  • Type 'removeitem ' (without the quotes, replacing the brackets with the ID you want).
  • Time to get funky. Deacon's body has disappeared, he's only left with his head, his hands and his feet, floating around like Rayman! Don't worry though, close the console, fast travel to any place on the map (Diamond City is a good idea, since he always get the same disguise there) so you can quickly check if it did the trick.
  • Save your game, swear to God you're never gonna mess with Deacon's equipment ever again. Profit.
