Dead bodies everywhere......

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:27 am

Early into the game I'd reanimated a corpse to fight for me, and when i fast traveled it came with me, but then died. It's still there...but I threw it into that gutter near the main entrace of Whiterun.

I also had to fight endless guards in Markath, and so there's dead guards all over.. (part of a quest plotline).

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for corpses, even empty ones, to disappear. The dragon skeletons seem to move/flutter and destroy my framerate and they last as long as I've been playing the game, not a single one has gone. The ghostly remains from a mage guild quest still pollute all of Winterhold.

Seems like a bad bug/shoddy code problem again, and as I'm on the PS3 this is par for the course. Well done, Bethesda! *golfclap*

Empty corpses should disappear within minutes of being looted. Not months. What genius thought this was a good idea deserves to be placed in a new job at Bethesda. Maybe janitorial work.

I believe if the corpse is a named npc it takes a long time to dissapear. If it's a general npc like "thief" or "Whiterun guard" They go quickly.

I'm surprised people are complaining about this. I hate when bodies disappear, especially when they vanish in front of my face.

I don't want the bodies to disappear instantly, but I would like it if they were gone after a few days. I figure if I haven't looted it by then, I'm not going too. Especially bodies in and around cities and towns. I can't imagine that people would just leave them there stinking!

Bodies don't disappear for me in Skyrim, I was referring to bodies disappearing in other games. Skyrim is the first game I've played where bodies don't disappear and I'm rather pleased with that fact.

I admit though, they should have NPCs hauling off the dead bodies to graveyards, that'd be even better.

It takes 30 days for NPCs to respawn.
Your bodies will disappear within 30 days.

But they don't. The patch notes confirmed at least the dead dragons are a bug and have been patched to go away. Let's hope so. For me it's not just the dragons that stick around. And an empty corpse should disappear the next time you fast travel or wait or sleep, regardless.

Not everything can be dragged, a rabbit for example must have weight 1,000lbs and of course you hardly can move elks or large animals. Seriously they need to fix this and if that really bother you guys try raise zombie and place them where you want them to ash. Another trick, if you have a staff of zombie, they wont ash if they died, keep repeating it then drop them where you want them.

I was hoping in matter of days the bodies would turns into zombie and less than a month would be pile of skeletons there, unless something manage to drag the bodies elsewhere.

But they wouldn't be able to find them, because you hid them....

Check and mate.

First of all the OP never stated he was an assassin. Secondly, city gaurds leaving dead bodies in the streets seems a little unsanitary if not utterly rediculous. And finally it is a game mechanic issue. Dead bodies shouldn't be everlasting. In the wild they would be torn apart by scavangers in a matter of hours and in cities you would think they would police that [censored] up.

"Check and mate" he says....maybe chess isn't your game.

If you have trouble with dragging the body, reanimate the body and kill it in a more convenient location.
