Dead bodys?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:03 pm

If its already been discussed im sorry. Im doing this from my phone so there's no searchbar. I believe in morrowind there was a dispose of body option. Yet in oblivion if you killed someone their body was there forever. Will there be a dispose of body option for the 360? Because there definitely should be.

Should be left there unless in the wild/open city. Cave and stuff, whos gonna bother to dispose of the corpse?

It would be nice to enter a cave and see the remains of an epic battle and be like .. "oh... I remember coming here before now... and making this mess.."

though i guess this would conflict with respawning hu

You will, with the new "Dispose Corpse" button (c'mon Pete, don't let me get egg on my face now that I've said this).

They should slowly rot away, eventually leaving nothing but bones.

I like this idea, by the time they are just bones, the cave or w/e will have respawned :)

Someone a long time ago suggested a pretty cool decaying system. At the very least give us a dispose of body button again and if not that, corpses will automatically be disposed of in a week.

Oh I got something else: you can reanimate them throughout the whole decay process. At different stages of decay you will get different reanimated creatures. At the end, it's a skeleton you reanimate. A few days prior, it's a zombie. Reanimate could have magnitude, too. The higher the magnitude the more flesh is restored to the corpse and the more power it gets. For instance, a magnitude 1 reanimate spell on a freshly dead corpse will reanimate them as a person. That same spell on a skeleton will reanimate them as a skeleton. But a magnitude 100 reanimate spell will reanimate the skeleton as a person.

I like this idea. The body is still there for a reminder, but it doesn't look stupid, with some guy lying in the middle of nowhere.

Also, I think any bodies in cities/villages should be disposed off automatically.

In F:NV, I killed someone in the strip. Now, 22 hours later (real time) his body is just lying there, every time I visit...

I love the decaying idea. But I don't expect the creators to listen to us I just wish there was a dispose of corpse option at the very least. Im a killer.
A little off topic but do you guys think there will be extra villagers to just be there for looks so I can kill. In oblivion I killed so many people no one was left. It was lonely.....

Well actually the body disappeared after a few weeks. But it seems to be a trend, Morrowind and Oblivion always did things in extremes. Morrowind had too little level-scaling so it made the main quest extremely easy while Oblivion had too much level-scaling and it just didn't feel right after you got at higher levels. It's the opposite in disposing bodies. Oblivion had no real disposal of bodies while Morrowind had way too much where it would just make the body disappear. I hope that you will be able to drag the bodies off the road or street and hide them in bushes or crates so that guards or citizens won't stumble upon the body and start looking for the murderer.

That sounds like it will be a mod but wont be in vanilla skyrim. Don't get me wrong I loved all the mods and overhauls in oblivion for the pc but I liked the console better. But as long as I don't have to see the same not rotting dead body in the road day after day. And why is no one in game freaked out by the body? They just go on with there day while passing a dead body. Lol

ok imagine this, you are doing a quest and you need to find a dead body, it wouldn't be there because after 3 days it would have disappeared, so the only way to do the quest is to do it from the very start of the game

That's completely different if there's a quest for this the body shouldn't disappear until you find it.

just tick the box on the dead actors entry that disables them from disappearing. or have the cell with the body reset as you enter it. Failing those hard coded flags, this is like the easiest script ever.

also some bodies shouldn't disappear because it adds atmosphere to a place, like that one church that necromancers overtook

Indeed, they should have a decompose tag for NPCs that will make the body go away after a week when checked. Or just integrate it into the Respawn flag. We need a middle ground. Like Kang and Kodos of the Simpsons say: Abortions for some, tiny American flags for others.

1. AI should react to dead bodies :)

2. Bodies should decay. After rotting, there will just be bones left.

I don't think we'll have rotting dead bodies. It's just easier to do like it was in previous versions, and keeping track of the rotting bodies and remains will require more computing resources than it's worth.

Seems like too many people think that computers nowadays have low-resource... and that games can't accomplish anything without the computer blowing up.
I'm sorry to have to say this... but you should face reality.

Was it me by any chance?
Probably not, I just said if people find a dead body in a town/city guards should come later, pick up the body, and take it to a mourge
While if nobody finds it it would just rot over a course of game days and eventually become bones

Of course this should probably only be for NPCs or monsters that have been slain by someone or something, if they are spawned dead they should stay that way

Xboxes are 5 years ago. And that is the hardware, what more a PC can do doesn't really matter.

Everyone has good points. But I think we all agree we don't want a rotting corpse or any corpse for that matter laying in the middle of a market district for more than a week.
