Dead is Dead Competition

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:30 pm

About half a year back, someone posted here with a Iron Man/Dead is Dead Competition in which people had to delete characters if they died and couldn't use the console/any glitches. Anyone still doing this, or does anyone still play like this?

The reason I'm asking: I just beat the MQ with my Dead is Dead character, and was curious if anyone was still playing like such. Probably not, but, eh, worth a try.

Thats pretty hardcoe man. Props to you. I have never tried. I think I would go through many many characters before I made it to the end.

I have a custom Redguard (favored attributes of Endurance/Luck and sign of the Lady) named Kara (after the character in “The Legend of the Seeker”) who made it through all 3 MQ’s. She was also head of House Hlaalu and the other joinable guild/factions. It took about 146 game days. I had maxed all of my Major/Minors (Heavy Armor, Block, Short sword, Athletics and Marksman/Alchemy, Speechcraft, Enchant, Armorer and Mysticism) except athletics (89), too, so she is 74th level. I always play hardcoe, so it wasn’t too difficult to do without dying. It’s really the most exciting way to play. Good Luck! (und viel spass!)

It's truthfully not hard at all. This is my second time ever trying it (the first time, I got butchered trying to steal an ebony axe by an Ordinator)

Go for it, man! It makes you think more along the lines of "Will I die?" as opposed to just the standard "How's the loot?"

Well I have my Soslthiem Set up.

I am using a bunch of mods and starting there! ( I made a mod that allows the player to start on solsthiem). So not only I am doing Iron man but I am doing EXTREME Iron man. I give me five minutes before I die on Solsthiem.

Obviously, you couldn't use anything completely game-breaking (like mods that give you tons of starting gold), but I guess game-breaking and cheap is up to you to define, seeing as you can turn 100 gold into infinite gold with Alchemy at the Caldera Mages Guild.

Well Kara never murdered NPCs or stole (unless it was a quest goal) and I never consoled anything more than “RA”. I used max difficulty throughout and no cheats. Kara maxed all of her combat skills in Indalen AT where she slew several hundred Daedra (and she has the souls to prove it), i.e., no “mudcrab academy” or trainers. Everything she killed was seriously trying to kill her. She used alchemy but did not stack potions. She got Goldbrand (which I believe she sold to the Museum), Azura’s Star with Almalexia’s soul, about two dozen GSGs with various Dagoth souls as well as Karstaag the giant’s, the master propylon index, and just for kick’s one million drakes in cash. The only mods I use are the better bodies and heads, the Balmora expansion and the official plug-ins.
I think that it is more of a personal challenge to play this way rather than a competition.
