Dead Forums?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:11 pm

I played fallout 3 GOTY religiously about a year ago and i recently started playing again.
I used to be on these forums almost every day at least 6 days a week.. and now for the past 4 days no new topics have started at all..
and it seems the same way for the new vegas ones as well.
Just wondering if people have found a new really busy forum or what?

Any replies are appreciated if they contain information or anything useful for that matter..
Please keep the flaming and hate posts to yourself lol.. Im just going to ignore them.

People moved on to other games. It happens. At least the forums are still here unlike Rogue Warrior and Wet which vanished without warning

Nah... The NV-forum dried out surprisingly fast compared to this one. Maybe the buggyness of the game was too much for the cummunity. Sadly, cause it's a great game nevertheless...

Hopefully a future kick-ass DLC could change that.

Add in the factor that it was boring and the replability was dull.

11-11-11 does not = 1 year; it does however = a little over 8 months :poke:

I have recently began playing FO3 again after a few months off, and so far have a renewed sense of enjoyment in playing it.

The Fallout forums have certainly died out quite a bit, and the NV forums died out sooner than I expected, most likely due to multiple factors; bugs being one of them, replayability just isn't there the way it has been for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, and Steam may have something to do with it too, I'm pretty sure I've heard more than one person (and some modders as well) state that they don't want anything to do with Steam, therefore wouldn't play or mod it.

Replayability seems subjective. I've done 4 playthroughs of NV, and I'm still not tired of it. I am taking a break though.

I recently tried playing through Fallout 3, but I simply can't bring myself to enjoy it. Sure it was nice on the first playthrough, but it just doesn't really provide what I look for in Fallout. I stopped probably at level 12 because I couldn't motivate myself to go further.

So I essentially went and started playing Fallout 2 again, which is always refreshing for me. After 6 years the game always shows me some detail that I completely missed out on for one reason or another.

I like to do quests, because of the sense of importance it gives me. I don't mind the so-called "fetch-quests" that people look upon with disdain. What I don't like is when quests try to pose themselves as an epic adventure all the time. I like it when quests "fit" too.

You know Skyrim comes out 11.11.11 right? Not sure where you get one year and 2012 from? It's eight months away...

Maybe he made a joke about it like:
One word - Skyrim (Obviously "yay!" for everyone.)
1 year - 2012 (Dark joke about 2012 being the supposed doomsday for humanity.)

Like, "Better enjoy skyrim cause a year after its out we're all dead. :D"

Or maybe if he believes in 2012, "Everyone is spending their time in the Skyrim forums when they could be out living their lifes, they better do it since we're all dead one year after Skyrim anyway, shouldn't spend the last two years of our lives on the forums."

But I might be wrong. :P

Don't know about you guys but I see new topics on the New Vegas forum all the time. I also see a few new ones on the Fallout 3 thread.

Some of them don't get as many quick replies so they dwindle to the 2nd or 3rd page.

They're there, but Skyrim has taken most of the interest. I've only posted a few replies on the Skyrim thread. It's just too crazy on there, I doubt anyone even read what I wrote. It just seems pointless to contribute anything. My replies were suggestions for devs. but I doubt any will read them since that particular topic had about 3 pages about 4 or 5 hours ago.

It's a testament to the game that the forums are still as active as this two and half years after it's release IMO.

The real testament is located in the TES forums, not the Fallout forums...which unfortunately are pretty dead. Once Fallout 4 comes out I'm sure that they will be pretty lively again.

While these forums aren't as popular as when Fallout 3 first came out, they're still pretty active which is a sign that Fallout 3 was a good quality game. People still post on these forums all the time, even though most of the topics are repeat topics.

Well, most people who bought or played the game don't post on the forums. So I don't think it's necessarily a sign of how good or bad a game is/was.

The dedicated fans are generally the ones who post incessantly. I've noticed most people on here will post a topic, maybe a few replies to it. But then they're off the forums for months, years or forever. I know I just recently came back on here. This place isn't all that interesting until something is announced or when it's ripe with speculation threads. In between all of that it seems like most people are bickering back and forth, or sharing ideas for future games.

Yeah, mine should be coming in tomorrow. Got it for PC, even though I already own it and all the add-ons on X360.

But hey, I've got a system that can run modern games now. And I use to play mostly PC a few years back.....keeping hardware up to date is a pain.

The forums have dropped in activity, I think alot because of New Vegas, Skyrim and other games, but there are many still here!

I'm still working on a Fallout3 mod, and will be for at least another year. When it's done, as long as there is 1 person willing to download and play it, I'll be a happy man. :)

I suspect these forums will pickup quite a bit when BGS starts work on Fallout 4.
