This is how I did it...I went in the vault with the gold then took everything, talked to Elijah, destroyed the turret generator, shut down safety protocols or the console on the other side of the door, opened the door (still holding everything you want along with the gold), walked out passed the bubble thing then walked immediately to the right to the door on top of the stairs. Elijah came over and turned on the forcefield and then I walked right up to the field as he was talking. He will deactivate the shield and you will pop on the other side unable to move for a few seconds and just walk away while Elijah dies!

I have been having a problem with the elevator though.

I think you ran into a glitch that let you through the shield when you shouldn't have been able to. There is no reason for Elijah to deactivate it.

sound like a glitch but you can do this which i did yesterday and walked out with all 37 gold bars

once in the vault do everything the OP said but instead go up to the force field right by the stairs and the elevator and dop the gold bars through the force field so they end up right by the elevator door, then kill Elijah and run through the level like normal and as fast as you can when you get to the elevator pick up all the bars and crawl to safety! the IM RICH [censored]!

I prefer to simply use the electrical transformer to the right of the vault as cover and sneak out the same door Elijah comes in. Though next time I'll see how having the Implant GRX effects things.
