dead money on disc?

Post » Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:49 am

Hello,
I love the Fallout series of games, I have been waiting and waiting for it to come out on disc so I can continue my journey.
yeah I can download it but hate having to pay monthly to Microsoft. to get the Mother ship zeta download I created an account with XBOX live downloaded it
then canceled my account with XBOX live. and had to fight with them for months to get my account deleted. never again.

and my XBOX Harddrive is only so big and I am having to delete profiles just to keep playing, how many downloaded add-ons can it hold after years of downloads? its 20Gig

I do not play games online like WOW and all the other crap that you have to pay monthly. will never do it. they are making millions off players.

buying a game and taking it home is going the way of the DoDo bird. they want you to continue to pump money into their Companies.

we will gladly pump money into your Companies IF you make more games, new games, Post War games are the best kind as it shows you how things could be like if war happend.

alot of us older players ( and there are millions of us ) will buy the game when it hits the shelves at our local stores ONLY,

most of the cool games now only have the stand alone version of the game that you can solve in 2 hours. wow that was fun, the real fun is online , not for us older guys.

I remember when it would take months to solve some of the older games. Fallout New vegas took me about a day to complete. and I find bugs that some of their tester
never would find.

sorry I am venting my frustration with the game industry.

back to my real reason for posting,

When does ANY of these ADD-ONS hit the store shelves and not an empty case with a code inside you type in to download it. not cool and pisses off your players.
and you cant take it back as most stores have an open software policy if the gaem is opened no returns

I want Dead Money and the other add-ons

Not really sure of the relevance of half of what you're complaining about. Anyway, I'll try and address some points.

You only need to pay the monthly fee for XboxLIVE Gold for multiplayer. Silver membership is free and allows you to purchase and download DLC.

Whether downloaded or from disk, the addons are installed to your xboxs hard drive. you don't run them from the disk.

As for when the DLC is availiable on disc. That remains to be seen, we've not yet heard on whether they will be and disk availiability will wait until a second DLc has been released so they can be paired up.

thats what i thought they wait till they have 2 to pair up then sell on disc.

But me if the single add-on was available for 60 Bucks I would buy it for 60 bucks,

I would then pay another 60 bucks for the next add-on. and so on.

or wait 6 months till they come out with a platnium edition with all the add-ons.

I love Fallout.

I still have the original Fallout boxes for the first one and second one for PC I actually keep an old computer with windows 98 just to play the original. I know win 98 Mode svcks.

and all the other cool games like the original Dungeon Keeper, the second one they made killed the game. threw it away after playing it for 10 minutes

Typically, when the DLC releases are done a Game of the Year Edition is released that has most or all of the additional content offered since release. Of course I have not heard of any plans for this to happen, but Bethesda has done this in the past with their other games.

That is the only way that I know of to get DLC on Disk. Now, I have not played GOTY Oblivion or Fallout3 on the 360, so I don't know if the extra content is contained in game, or installed on the consoles drive like the DLCs are. Someone else will have to answer that.

As for when, if the extra content is bundled as a GOTY, then it will be some time after the last DLC is released.

Well, yeah theres the GOTY. But with Fallout 3, four of the DLCs were also released on separate discs in pairs. (Operation:Anchorage and The Pitt- Broken Steel and Point Lookout)

I did not know that. thanks. I was not perusing 360 games at that time so I would not have seen it in the stores. Those pairs were probably treated by the console the same way as the DLCs, in being installed on the HDD.

I have to say I agree with Shawn.

The area I live in means I only have access to dial-up internet. I've been informed it could be more than 2 years before we get our phonelines upgraded.
So this means I can't even access Microsoft Live even if I wanted to. Therefore I have a game that is bugged with no way to fix it unless I can get the DLC on disc like I had to with FO3.

When the patch comes out you can go on the internet somewhere and download it off the Fallout: New Vegas website on to a flash drive and then put it on your console. That would help you get the bugs fixed without internet access at home, but for the DLC I don't think they are putting it on a disk

Yep, I have the store-bought versions of FO3's DLC and this is exactly right, they are installed on the hard drive (and you never need the disks after installation). Same as the DLC that comes with the GOTY edition of Oblivion.

Shawn, I share your pain, being without XBL myself, but...

But me if the single add-on was available for 60 Bucks I would buy it for 60 bucks,

Don't give 'em ideas, man!

I recently turned my internet off at home and have also been wondering this same thing. I already have DM but have been wondering about the other DLCs. It'd be nice if they put them on disc as they came out so that those of us with only internet at work can purchase the DLCs at the time of release.

*EDIT*
I play FO3 and FO:NV on the PC so there is no option for console.

What would be great if Bethesda had a site you could go to punch in your credit card number and purchase any game or download you want and they get the money not Microsoft. cut out the middle man

come on guys step out side the box and do what the consumers want. or fire all the VPs and start fresh.

in the corporate world VP's typically dont care about other departments as long as it doesnt effect their department. one hand never knows what the other is doing.

you should put a CAP on VP's time in the VP seat. after 2 years BAmm your back to being nothing.

as Most VP's dont even know how to e-mail someone. ask a VP what an IP address is they say HUH? do you know what DIR means? what would the this dos command do? : ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew ?

do you know what unified communication means? whats an ip phone? can you convert a word doc to a PDF? if you typed regedit32 into the run line in most OS's where does it take you?

VP's are Morons that make more money than any of us programmers. Im sick of it. drive the fastest cars and have the slowest brains.

sorry I am on a strange rant today sorry.
