Dead money... fun or frustrating?

Well I got new vegas a while back and just have been doing tons of side quests and i decided to start my first dlc. Since dead money was the first dlc i thought i would follow the story. I am an hour or two in and I gotta say... this does not feel like a fallout dlc. It has a big stealth aspect in it from picking up the 14th person, to the traps, to avoiding enemies. Thats not a problem for me, I mean im using a stealth sniper build haha. But the thing that bothers me is it is not what fallout is suppose to be. Fallout is an open world game where your encouraged to explore, find new weapons, armor, misc. items, etc. I feel that this dlc restricts you from the moment you start till 2 hours into the game being extremely linear and your not able to choose the way you execute missions. The atmospere imo feels very bland and boring and the red smoke is always around you somewhere. This dlc also seems to be favoring melee builds instead of gun builds or energy weapon builds which is extremely stupid considering it takes away all of your equitment from the beginning. One last thing is the enemies lack variety... i find myself fighting the same enemies over and over again. I just can't find a way to enjoy this dlc and i don't want to revert back to a previous save and lose all my progress because i want to collect all the weapons in this dlc... There is some cool things. The characters are pretty interesting espesially dog even though you lose him after the first hour. Also I like collecting Siera Madre money to buy weapon repair kits and medical supplies and the game encourages you to loot areas to progress to the next one.

Let me know does this dlc get any better? Also did you enjoy this dlc? To be honest its pretty frustrating atm and keeping me from wanting to go back knowing I don't want to revert my save.

Dead Money is a story where you are the main protagonist. Just as most storydriven games and certainly most RPGs are. I would consider readin up on the DLCs another time, and then exploring further.

As a person who almost exclusively does sniper/sneaky pete builds, I found the DLC awesome, second only in the DLC history of the entire franchise to The Pitt. With a BAR and 308 ammo which you can more or less get at your leisure if you search for tokens and the 308 Vendor slip, then you have more than enough ammo to go sneaky. You even have enough ammo to go balls to the wall spray and pray with a halfdecent Gunbuild.

It is frustrating if you are not interested in the story and do not try to get into it. And its one of the Harder DLCs especially when you turn up the difficulty. It takes alot of navigating, and the layout can be confusing, but I didnt really find it obscenely challenging. It was a puzzle I had to figure out.

Plus as you get deeper into the story, you should (hopefully) find it significantly more interesting. If nothing else you leave with gold bars, lots of nice doller bills and a some nice and practical extras. I personally found the story to be worth every single penny of the DLC and I would have bought the DLC for the story alone. Im not going to spoil it for you but you will meet some of the most memorable characters in the entire game in Dead money.

Edited for stupid Hitman related error. :)
