Dead Money vs Honest Heart

(MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)

HH for me because:

More freedom, DM felt extremely linear
Quests felt like chores in DM
Story is better in HH
Endings are superior in HH because it had a sad feeling to it.
Only thing better in DM is the gold.

As much as I loved Dead Money, Honest Hearts is better to me for the somewhat freedom of quests and movement and some intresting background.

Dead Money and Honest Hearts story are on the same level, but Dead Money's characters were more... in-depth.

Dead Money. It was more thrilling.

Honest Hearts wasn't nearly as thrilling and if I had a dollar for every time a giant Yao Guai/Gecko spawned RIGHT behind me, slapping me down to 25% health and making me waste my Super Stims and Turbo, I'd have my money back that I spent on the DLC.
Maybe I have a different idea of "thrilling" than most people, but getting jumped by some monster or group of White legs every five feet UNLESS I stayed in sneak mode was more annoying than thrilling. Makes you choose between a waste of stims or a waste of time. I also don't picture myself rushing back to explore HH to the fullest BECAUSE I don't feel like getting jumped every five feet.

Dead Money, as much as I hated the repetitive sound effects and red haze, had tension, diversity, fear, desperation, great characters, pathos, even a couple of interesting weapons....and gold!

Honest Hearts had none of those things. Where is the peril? I did not sympathize with the good guys or hate the bad guys or felt like I was on a true "mission" or even necessary. It is pleasurable to explore, but there is very little to find. And once I got the Animal Friend perk, walking around was without surprise.

I'm going back in to explore some more and get all out it I can, mainly because I paid for it.

I'm rather disappointed with the DLCs, especially compared to Fallout 3 DLCS -- a shooter, a creepy one, a proud military quest, a strategic hunt, a violent and emotional quest.

At least HH felt more like it belonged in the world of New Vegas.

You mean the non-linear exploring. I wouldn't call it gameplay.

All equal. Each one presents different experiences and challenges and I love them both. Dead Money is claustrophobic and tense and requires a great deal of vigilance and patience. Honest Hearts is open and much more relaxed and the ranged combat with White Legs is a huge change from being face to face and pressed by Ghost People. Both cater to survivalists and both have a good deal of focus on exploration (one careful, the other more lax).

I'd say Dead Money is the Yin to Honest Heart's Yang.

Do they have their flaws? Every game has flaws. Do those flaws get in the way of my enjoyment? Nope. I figure out the constraints and work within them and adapt as necessary. Much more entertaining that way.

HH by a landslide.

However I hate that the White Legs dissapear, leaving only animals to fight(After finishing both endings they we're gone). In the Mojave there was already a lack of spawned human enemies, now we got an even greater lack? If I wanted to fight animals I'd go back to the Mojave.

Couldn't they have just said "Well the White Legs are pretty much destoryed and those that are left are unorganized. There are only small bands that can cause no harm on a large scale. They are no longer a serious problem." And voila! You have some challenging enemies to fight. *sigh*

Dead Money on all poll options.

The weapons in Dead Money were actually useful as compared to HH's which didn't fill out an open gap but just stacked more crap upon what we already had.

The quests in Dead Money was actually interesting and I was excited about each one of them while in Honest Hearts the quests were so short and mostly came down to "Go to X and kill/collect a (couple of) Y".

As to the story, I never found there to be a good reason for the Courier to go to this bunker except maybe if she hates radio signals and have an obsessive compulsive disorder to turn them all off. But once inside the story was superb and I really connected with the characters which were all brilliantly written. In HH on the other hand the characters were largely uninteresting apart from Follows-Chalk and Happy Trails and the story felt very halfassed and linear.

And the endings, I liked Dead Money's better, they really had interesting things going on for the characters while HH was very predictable and kinda "meh". I also liked that Dead Money gave me two new final endings, Elijah and Greed.

Now the environment on the other hand they both equalize themselves out. HH was beautiful and DM had a cool as [censored] horror feel to itself.

DM was also more challenging, which is a plus for me.

The exploration in Dead Money is far more rewarding than HH's.
Why? Cause in DM we have to try to survive the death gas and limited supplies and finding more chips is actually useful.
But Honest Hearts feels like it was pointlessly bloated with very few interesting things in it.
I'd rather have a smaller area with more interesting exploration than a larger area with little to nothing of interest.
And apart from the Survivalist and the occasional good loot exploring Zion was not very rewarding.

The companions in Dead Money all felt very fleshed out with lots of interesting things to say about their past and their current situation, but in HH only Follows-Chalk met this standard while Graham won't speak as a companion or do much else and that Sorrows chick was just a boring, tedious, useless pain in the ass.

So Honest Hearts was a fun little timesink while Dead Money was a brilliant masterpiece.

Anytime you are walking around in a game you are playing it.

As soon as you turn it on you are playing it.

I liked both but Dead money got redundant at times. Honest hearts story was good and the Characters were done well also. I like all the weapons in Dead money and HH. So overall i would say HH. But dead money is still up there.

I agree, feels like a paradise in the wastes. I think the exploration will be a lot more fun for someone who uses survival as opposed to medicine because there are so many plant goodies out there, especially the rare xander roots and broc flowers.

I never use stimpacks except maybe to repair limbs, so a plentiful supply of healing powder is quite nice.

Both the DLCs were good and both had their strengths and weaknesses however the achievements are pretty terrible between both of them there is only one achievement that you don't get as part of the main storyline and that achievement wasn't a challenge at all.

Overall, they were both meant to accomplish different experiences. Dead Money is survival/horror while Honest Hearts is more of a sandbox exploration. They both succeeded quite well.

Story-wise, I felt Dead Money had it better. I wasn't too concerned with bringing home any of Honest Hearts' companions, but I really wanted to take Christine back with me to the Mojave. I just loved that character.

Better quests also goes to Dead Money. DM was more goal-oriented, its tasks feeling more integral to the experience.

Better weapons? No question that Honest Hearts takes the cake here. I didn't like the holorifle from DM much, but the .45 SMG and Compliance Regulator are both quite awesome. Armor, on the other hand, I prefer my Reinforced Sierra Madre Armor, since Joshua Graham's armor doesn't come with the arm bandages.

Better endings goes back to Dead Money. They felt more important. Other than finding out that I kind of made things get a little hostile between the Sorrows and Dead Horses, nothing about Honest Hearts' endings particularly struck home.

HH was way better for me. Freedom, better weapons,Graham and freedom also DM makes me feel like Elijahs [censored]. Only good thing was about DM was the Automatic Rifle other than that DM can go die in a hole for all I care.
