Dead Money Problems

Post » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:17 pm

So today I purchased the Fallout New Vegas DLC, Dead Money and im having some terrible results. I live in Canada and I dont speak French whatsoever. There were two versions of Dead Money to download at the psn store, a regular version and a french version so naturally I choose the regular version cause I dont speak french. Only to soon realize that the version I purchased is not compatible with the Canadian version of Fallout New Vegas so It seems now that I have wasted 10$. My first question is why not include both version when you buy one cause they are both the same dlc and you guys did this with the classic pack back when I pre ordered the game and secondly I think this is going to be very misleading to alot of Canadians who arent french...

I would contact Playstation support. You may be able to arrange a refund.

If you could tell me how to do that, it would be great because I was mislead by the title saying "French Version" written in the title of the content. Are you talking about email or through my Ps3?

Wow... someone else is having the same problem as me :P

I have the same product key as the French version, but would rather play in English. Do you think they'll fix it?

I'm a Canadian, and I just registered here to say I'm having the same problems. The only two choices I have from the PSN Store is the English version (BLUS 30500) and the French version (BLUS 30626, my version). How do you mess something up like this, Bethesda? >_>

Personally I believe that the French Version is in English and French, depends on what yuor game detects right. I remeber tho that when I got the Classic Pack from Gamestop the code came with a regular and a french version Classic Pack and the french version was the only pack that would work with my copy of Fallout. So im pretty sure they were just misleading with the title of this content. Also why couldnt they have just had one icon in the store that includes both versions when you purchase it, its not like they are losing any money that way...

So what, should we just wait for Bethesda/Obsidian to fix this? Or what can we do now.

It's a total buzzkill for someone who's been eager to play this DLC for a while now, and I'm surprised how little attention it's getting... Hopefully they realize what's wrong or at least let us know that they're working on fixing it.

I wonder if Bethesda or PSN could make it so that If you purchased one version, the other version would become free?

I'm doubting the French version will give us anything more than English subtitles :/

Maybe I'll try that... I'm decent at French. Could anyone try to confirm what is included in the French version?

We're talking to Sony about this matter.

If you have the Canadian release of New Vegas (Blus 30626), purchase the "French" version of Dead Money -- that includes both French and English for Dead Money. This is similar to how the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123639-if-youre-having-trouble-with-your-digital-bonus-download/.

If you have the US version (Blus 30500) of New Vegas, select the English version for Dead Money.

To find out the BLUS code, look at the spine of your game case.

Thanks for responding so quickly, but is there are chance that you'll have some sort of region patch to fix this issue? It's a little bit misleading that English-speaking Canadians have to download a French version in order to play the DLC. I'll admit that I bought the English version without looking at the BLUS info in the description of the DLC, but naturally, out of an English version and a French version, I'd pick the English one.

To be honest, I don't know... we're looking into it. Hopefully folks that got the pre-order content for the game http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123639-if-youre-having-trouble-with-your-digital-bonus-download/ to select the French version.

As already noted, "French" features both English and French language tracks for New Vegas (as the Canadian release of New Vegas is a English/French bilingual release).

If you're in Canada and you selected the English option, I would recommend contacting Sony support (we have no control over transactions on PSN).

Alright thanks for all the help, I'll wait and see if you guys are able to fix everything up, because it's probably not just me who clicked on the English version of Dead Money, it's likely a good majority of every other English-speaking Canadian out there who just wants to play the DLC. If you guys are able to somehow fix this so that the English version is compatible with BLUS 250626 as well, and all we'd have to do is redownload the DLC from our download list, life would be a lot less confusing for us Canadians D:

Awesome... was wondering why the version on the PSN store was coming up (CA) English but on my hard drive being listed as (US). :swear:

Anyone know if Sony support is cool about these things? Never dealt with them before.

They shouldn't say French version or English version. It should just be Dead Money BLUS xxxxxx and BLUS xxxxxx. That way people would read the damn case. This happened with Fallout 3 on the PSN in Canada. The DLC came later for the English/French version. When I bought my copy of Fallout 3 for PS3 it was the US version but I live in Western Canada, but in Eastern Canada (Ontario and east) it is most likely the English/French version. Also why can't it just be one BLUS with multiple languages, these are BluRay discs, there's enough room.

I emailed them http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php

or if you're in a hurry to get this sorted out you can call them at 800-345-SONY, although it should be noted that they close at 8:00 PST, which I think just came and went.
