I am trying to finish this quest but something is going wrong. I grab some loot, go the the computer and get Elijah to come down but I can't get out. I have tried sneaking near the elevator but even when he walks away the shields go up when I approach it. I have tried confronting him and the turrets go up and then he attacks me but then the shields are up and I can't escape. I am getting so annoyed at this and all my searches have just shown "escape with 37 bars" which when I tried doing the exact same thing the shields go up and I have 100 sneak so it's not my bad.

If you can stand to leave most of the gold behind it is pretty easy to sneak out before the fields go up. You can also get out following the same path you took to get into the vault. It can be frustrating because you have to do lots of running and jumping across gaps in walkways - kinda tricky with the pc engine. Note that you have to kill Eijah to get out this way.

took several attempts got em though make sure u have the long haul perk b4 he comes down into the vault plant the c4 charges from the police station on the stairs leading up to the landing he walks down. overweight or whatever u have 2 lean against the force shield hes behind while hes talking strange glitch happens,u switch places,he starts yelling,doors lock u have to kill him to get out. thats where c4 comes in. blow him up exit and slow walk home takes forever but its worth it

PS. make sure u take everything not just the gold, the auto rifle is a monster deathclaw killa good luck.
