Dead Money = Waste Of Money

Post » Mon May 03, 2010 9:02 pm

It seemed like the OP anticipated something that Dead Money couldn't provide. I can at least agree with the spirit of their testimony, ignoring the the hyperbole. I hope this doesn't mean that Fallout NV is a combat letdown. This is the part where you tell me to go play COD, right? Never played it. But where is it okay to sacrifice action for better story when the best situation is for both to be good? Actually, what keeps me away from NV is something that you may not agree with. I don't like the cowboy setting and I didn't appreciate it in the first Fallout. Is it my imagination, or did McGyver at Shady Sands say "howdy" with a cheek full of chewing tobacco?

Not all people in California have a "Cowboy setting"

Not the big regions like the NCR, Gecko,Vault City and San Francisco

but New Vegas is in Nevada, the "Cowboy" Setting fits perfectly

Like Washington D.C is the "Big City" setting

Dead Money maybe didnt provided combat, but not all people play RPG games just for the "Combat" section

Well, if I buy NV then I will replace all the music with Native American sounding music.

Those links are probably not how real Native Americans like their music, but I love that stereotypical war sound.

In no way is Dead Money a waste of money. When I played this I was completely svcked into the story that Chris Avellone wrote and it was simply amazing. The style of gameplay was also amazing as it causes you to think twice about what you're going to do. Did you not like this DLC due to the fact that you had to slow down, because you couldn't "run and gun?"

No the CODs 1-3 started to get boring since it was always WW2. Dont get me wrong i love WW2 but after a while you need a twist and then 4 came out and gave it that. MW2 came out and keept the fun going. Black ops came out and it was about Vietnam. I would say they were quite different and not the same everytime...

The setting changes, but the gamplay hasn't changed too much since 4. The game focuses way too much on the perks, those ruined the series in my opinion.

I can elaborate more if I need to.

Please do because that is not a convincing argument. How could they just change the gameplay there are tons of games out there that havent changed the gamplay for a long time and are still successful.

This. I don't have any fun playing Crap of Dookie. I just get pissed off at the game. Now, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 now that's a fun game.

I loved Fallout 3 and all the DLC. I liked New Vegas... But I am just getting way beyond peed off with the exploding collar in Dead Money?

Why?

Because speakers are NOT ARMOUR PLATED!

Seriously... making some of the speakers harder than a frickin tank armour is just a real cheat on behalf of a game maker who is just doing it to make the game harder. They couldn't think of a way of designing levels without frickin cheating and making speakers impossible to destroy.

I've reached the vault and cannot get up the stairs fast enough to turn off the alarms... I have NO idea how to get any further because I keep exploding. WORST. DLC. EVER!

Fallout 3 made sense... but then this is Obsidian and they did make the abortion that is Alpha Protocol (which I bought sadly enough). I'll buy Bethesda software but no more will I buy Obsidian.

1.Destroy the speakers
2, Turn off the radios
3. In the vault, you need to escape the place
4. So? Speakers dont make sense but Aliens and giant robots did? this a game, sometimes the logic is throw out of the window
5, Alpha Protocol is a good game IMO
6, Obsidian are mostly former members of the old Fallouts devs back in the Black Isle days, some more respect please
Aaaanyway, why is this thread is still open?

I liked the DLC, great story, creepy, liked the work your way up from nothing kind of thing like the pitt had but this one is better of course. Though the combat wasn't all shoot everything every 10 seconds, it was still amazing and probably the best dlc for fallout. Of course, just my opinion.

#1 Bethesda did not make this game, Obsidian did. Secondly if you play on hard core mode dead money is fairly difficult.

I know I spent at least 10- 16 hrs in dead money, because I take full advantage of the game world. It was hard, had a good story, had pretty much a solid ending so I for 1 loved it. I liked it much more than the main game. It was well worth $10.00 or $14.00.

The op has no appreciation for the game world, didn t play on hardcoe and dosen t care at all about anything but shooting stuff if he got done in 2hrs.

Dead Money was very good and worth the money. Unless you r looking for a COD dlc.

So far, only one thing I does not like which is I cannot visit back Sierra Madre after I go out :sadvaultboy:

Well, perhaps OP and I should just do what was suggested by the theme of this DLC

The story was great i give obsidian that. but sorry yes i found it annoyin since i couldnt "run and gun" with my character that is meant to do that. i mean he has 15 sneak. my stealth character run throught the dlc was alot better. i jus hate that dead money doesnt give u options to finishin the quest and gettin through it, i mean the only "choice" in the dlc was how u dealt with Elijah (and still then u had to be stealth to do the one option).

I know no spoilers, but can someone PM me and tell me: Elijah is Veronica's "father" right? How does she react after the DLC? Does she react? I'd be terribly disappointed if she didn't...

Spoiler
It's the same Elijah, yes. Veronica has some extra dialogue after you finish the DLC, and you get an extra companion perk for her.

I think Dead Money Is outstanding. the writing of the whole scenario was great. the characters were believable and well acted. loved the game changer the cloud, changed the game from a run and gun to a survival horror type game. i spent the good part of a whole day going over every square inch of the sierra madre, I know I still didn't find all the secrets. best DLC I have ever played. I hope the Next 3 DLCs are as long and engaging as this one. and I for one Hate most DLCs.. too short and i see them just as a cash grab (see also oblivions DLCs Horse armor? the vile lair? the Pirates cove? all just made to make you spend Money.. both in real life. the $$ for the dlc and the ingame Cash to Unlock all the "Perks" of owning the location)

for all the TLDR people out there

Worth the 10$.
Buy it now
Do not expect a run and gun situation

Lol I love how people bash cod, yet they sell and make millions. The $ is what they want, not the fans.

Back on topic: I did not like the dlc too much. It was one of those you start and HAVE to finish rom there. It couldn't have been spread around the wasteland or at least in a populated new area. Instead you have green ghouls all over the place. And the constant bugs. i swear, I doubt it when poeple sy they play this without any. The ending of it only gives you caps you can't take with you, and even if you do, YOU CANT SPEND THEM. So anyways...

I do have a fav. of it though. The holo rifle=kool.

1. Believe me , COD will have the same destiny of Spyro and Guitar Hero, Activision will svck all the ideas, then they will discard the game for another victim :sadvaultboy:
2. I think that people only want PL style DLC, again, meanwhile its not anything involving Aliens, Simulations and Post gameplay, I dont care

COD ruined the entire on line shooter world. I don t care if they sold 50 million copies.

I would much rather see a Dead Money DLC than a Point Lookout, because Dead Money was more based around other people.

I liked Dead Money alot......
