Dead NPC's in Megaton

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 8:24 am

I'm a level 11 and have put about 55 hours in and a while ago back maybe 5-10 hours in I notice Andy Stahl is dead by a ramp by that Children of the Atom preacher on the ground level of Megaton...not really sure why he died and none of the NPC's even mention it. Then I noticed about 15 hours of playtime ago, possibly longer, that Lucy West was dead on one of the ramps in the back of the city...have no clue why and no one seems to know or say anything...is it a bug or does anyone know why this happened?

I believe I've seen someone post here that some of the NPCs like to take headers off of the upper walkways from time to time and the subsequent fall ends up killing them.

I haven't seen this happen first-hand(thank goodness) so I am not certain about this. However, it sounds like a plausible reason to me.

They fall off the walkways, and die. It happens... they have lousy armor. You should help them get better armor.

Is the death of Lucy West and Andy Stahl at this point in the game a gamebreaker?

No. You loose parts of a quest-storyline with Lucy, but nothing gamebreaking. Andys brother has a problem with drugs about which you can speak with Andy, but that's all... Nothing serious, really, but it's damn annoying.

Lucy gives you the mission 'Blood Ties' - have you done that? As for Andy, other than asking him about his brother's drug addiction, Andy is of very little use or loss. You won't miss him.

Yeah I completed Blood Ties, but that's good news that it's nothing groundbreaking.

Ohmigodz! It's the Megaton Murderer! It happens when no one sees, at night, and you are the only one who can stop him!!! (since only you notice the dead bodies... "I see dead people!")

You don't actually lose anything with Lucy gone.... besides a love interest. :hubbahubba: You can start her quest in a different way.

Walter usually dies also, pretty common...Walter is nice to have because you can get 10 caps per spare parts...or whatever they call them...get them in better armor quick and slip a few stimpacks in. But, they will die, it may take longer...but they DIE.

Yeah, sometimes my Megaton NPCs magically spawn 20+ feet in the air, fall, and get hurt after I leave a building. Maybe that's it, or most likely it is how other people said that it is happening.
