Dead savegame - sound issues

Post » Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:34 am

My save, my beloved Time Lord of 214 hours has just snuffed it shortly after completing the Knights of the Nine - Revelation questline. Background dialogue no longer has any sound, my weapon no longer makes swooshing sounds and horse riding is laggy. Earlier versions of this character and of course, other characters all work fine, so the game itself isn't stuffed.

I have heard that Oblivion savegames begin to screw up after 200 hours, and it's a common problem. Does anyone know of any fix, or does the save have to be scrapped?

If there are any savegame gurus around, the files in question can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?vm4rkkh8hkhf2v2

I would be immensely grateful for any help, no-one wants to lose long-lived characters.

Ah, the classic A-bomb glitch. Try using Wyre Bash. You should be able to find information and the download link through a search engine such as Bing or Google. Be sure to read up on how to use it though.

I took this data from Wrye Bash:

Isn't Abomb caused by that counter reaching 49? In any case, neither OAF nor Wrye Bash were able to fix the problem, which of course means it isn't Abomb.
