Deadliest Warrior Oblivion: New Season New Blood

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:30 pm

maybe in the next deadliest warrior u should create special matches or events like team matches, last combatant standing.

Oblivion Battle Royale, sounds like mix of very interesting, and absolutely insane. Definitely Sheogorath approved.

John, are you using my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36894 If so, you'll have to change the text in the original post where it says that Bosmer get Invisibility because now they get a bear companion instead. I have also provided abilities for Sneak and Armorer skills, but these could just as well stay money skills (otherwise a bunch of people will have to redesign their characters).

Another thing, in the last tournament I noticed you gave character summoning spells instead of giving them the summoning potions I prepared. This is especially important now with therebalanced creatures, because I haven't rebalanced spell costs. So right now the Summon Scamp spell is actually the best because Scamps are just as powerful as Daedroths, but the spell is much cheaper and anyone can cast it.

Thirdly, I noticed you forgot to add the "Arcane" from "Arcane Knight" to the description of my character in the list. ;)

And finally, here is my reserve character:

Name: Claude de Monteroy
Gender: male
Race: Breton
Birthsign: Lady
Appearance: default age, blue eyes, white HighElfClassic hair
Class: Mage Slayer
Specialization: Combat
Favored attributes: Endurance, Agility
Major skils:
1. Alchemy
2. Blade
3. Heavy Armor
4. Mercantile
5. Restoration
6. Security
7. Speechcraft
Item budget: 8000 gold
Total item value: 7944 gold
Weapons: Longsword of the Glacier (1329 gold)
Shield: Dwarven Shield (210 gold)
Head: Mageslayer's Helmet (3600 gold)
Upper body: Steel Cuirass (180 gold)
Hands: Steel Gauntlets (50 gold)
Legs: Steel Greaves (95 gold)
Feet: Steel Boots (50 gold)
Amulet: none
Ring: Ring of Nihilism (2430 gold)
Alchemy items: Strong Potion of Disbelief (192 gold)
Spells: Restore Health (self)
AI Combat Style: default

"Tremble in fear, foul warlocks! I, Claude de Monteroy, do not fear your wicked magicks and I shall put an end to your unholy practices!"

When he drinks his potion this guy will have 85% Resist Magic. The downside is that his physical protection is kind of weak, especially in a long fight where his armor gets damaged. So he's really more of a gamble. If he runs into a mage he is certain to win, but if he runs into a hardcoe warrior he will probably lose.

With the characters submited so far, Claude would destroy Francois, Shaukin, Pox, Irlen, and Vrokar, but he is bound to lose against Mara, Dragatus, Lord Kacj, and Lamont. So for now he has a 57% chance to make it to the second round.

AI Combat Style: Default? will that make him summon in the beginning, and use his staff until they get up close at which point he paralyzes them and resumes the staff barrage? Also, how often does the AI use paralyze, is he just going to use it once or will he use it as much as possible.

Yes, that's how it should work. The paralyze spell will be used more than once, but not all the time. I would guess he'll cast it no more than once every 5-10 seconds. Another thing to keep in mind is that the AI tends to only uses 1 buff at a time and a summoned creature counts as a buff. It will use more than one buff, but only after a while.

We'll have to wait a bit before making a contest of champions because the champions from the first 5 tournaments aren't compatible with the new rules. This is the third tournament with the new rules and even here the rules are changing. But at least these are fundamentally the same so you'd only have to tweak them.

We could easily edit past champions to fit the new rules while maintaining their basic flavor.

I suppose, but I still think we should stick to the post-Crazy Jim era champions.

Edit: More specifically, we shouldn't include Crazy Jim, mostly for storytelling purposes. Let legends remain legends. Before Crazy Jim there was only Barahir and after the Ten Trials we started using the new balance changes.

If Pox uses his poison and serpent abilities at the start he could probably take people out fast, at least in the early rounds he could.

Pox is agressive but somewhat fragile. He can kill quickly but he can also die fast. Claude is hoping to get him as his first opponent.

I did not know you released new balance changes, so yes I'll be using those. Ill add the new changes to the OP. Ill keep armorer and sneak as money skills though, since a few people seem to be using them already.
Another thing I did not know, I will be sure to do that this tournament!
Fixed ;)

I still say a leveled Goblin Warlord could beat any of us.

I made a post about it in the previous thread.

Yes, it's probably better this way. Or you could make it optional.

True. NPCs scale rather poorly compared to creatures.

Warlords in vanilla Oblivion are simply BEAST. The scary part is they are actually nerfed compared to the two that appeared in Bloodmoon. My level 50 fully geared Orc battlemage had trouble taking them down.

Yeah I'm obsessed with Bloodmoon because I just played through it again.

Know what the most annoying aspect of Bloodmoon was? Almost every single enemy had Reflect stacked up to 50% or more including Karstaag the Frost Giant.

Hell, forget about Goblins...I'd put a Riekling Rider against one any day.

A foul stench filled the registration area and the other entrants backed away in disgust and dismay as the towering Nord hunter entered the hall. He was wearing a mixture of fur and metal armor, and flies buzzed around his rancid body which had never been washed. He chewed on a large piece of raw meat with his rotten, yellow teeth and smiled a semi toothless grin at the others. This was one Nord whom even the wolves wouldn't eat.

Know what? I have a good idea for the next tournament.

How about for reserve characters we use NPCs from the game? I still have a list of the strongest of several classes from that NPC tourney I did once. If I recall the most successful ones were Mankar Camoran, Azani Blackheart and Ri'Zakkar. Those three could be randomly thrown in whenever we need three more people.

Or maybe we could just throw them into tournaments anyway as a test of ability.

Or maybe after we crown a winner we can have a two round mini tourney with the winner and those three shuffled up.

What happen if one of them wins?
And the next tournament should be called "Deadliest Warrior: Sheogorath Champion" and it will allow things like weapons and armour from the SI

We've had one before that allowed items from SI, haven't we?

But I agree it'd be a good idea.

And yeah it would be nearly impossible for a well balanced character to stand a freaking chance against any of the three I named. Those NPCs are beast. Azani and Ri'Zakarr even make Umbra look pathetic at equal levels. (Umbra's always at a static 50. Azani or Ri'Zakarr at level 50 usually stomp her badly.) Mankar has summons and he's resistant to literally everything but fire poisons, and in these plugins our characters never use their poisons.

But it would be fun to see the WINNER among us in a tournament with those three. We should do that.

Or we could go ahead and put the last winner, Gordol, up against them.

edit: But take away Mankar's conjuration spells..just give him a potion. Daedroth or something. He's overpowered as he is, obscenely so, even without constant summons.

Weapons: Bow of Despair (487) Arrow of misery x 10 (130), Dwarven Arrow x 100 (400)

I'm not trying to be that guy but are we allowed to purchase our own arrows in this tourny. Just wondering because in the last one we couldn't.

I think it would be fun to have some kind of 2 vs. 2 tournament. I'm not sure how well the AI would work, but I can't see any major problems and it might be possible to script some basic tactics.
