[WIP] Deadly Reflex 6 - Hopefully the last WIP thread

Skycapitan is perfectionist and this is why the only thing DR5 neded was a short hotfix.
I prefer that he will take his time to squash bugs, rather then letting those bugs bug me.

I'd rather have the choice of letting the bugs bug me and wait for the bugfixes while I lop heads off and throw around axes.

Skycaptain wrote two months ago he`s not aiming for a perfect, bug-free version on first release (hence the "Beta" tag ), I guess to keep the pressure low and concentrate on getting all the features running fine. Nevertheless I think this release will be in a good state.

The only thing I`m asking myself is why FCOM is necessary to test DR6 (I guess it`s FCOM that causes those annoying crashes). Unfortunately I can`t help him, because I don`t use FCOM myself.

If i recall correctly FCOM can cause some problems, but the mod is popular.
As you Klaus i dont use FCOM, this is why i'm clueless about this mod.

It probably is FCOM causing the crashes in this case. As for why FCOM is being used to test DR6, I think Skycaptain mentioned that it was to test the mod from a gamer's perspective but don't quote me on that.

Yeah I had some crashing issues - finally decided to give a go to what was suggested, and just not go into the crash area right now - and an hour later I hit another CTD zone exactly like that, pretty much like I was afraid.

So I have been mostly pissed at the game for a couple of days now, took a timeout. The reason why I installed the mods I consider essential before starting the "playtesting" was because I actually want to play the game, releasing DR feels like nothing to me if I know I can′t play myself at all, so I wanted to cover that first. ;)

(I also recommed something other than Vanilla with DR, cause otherwise the level scaling makes all the skill and stat comparisons pretty meaningless)

But tonight I′m writing the readme, finally. That would mean I′m uploading tomorrow evening. :)

I`m glad to hear you are back.

I recommend you seriously to take a two weeks break after the release to enjoy the game for yourself. In the meanwhile I`ll manage the bug report thread and communication with the DR6 Beta users. Don`t worry, after your well earned break the list of bugs to be fixed will all be yours :)

If you still have crashes, I propose you should install OOO 1.34b5 instead of FCOM, at least for now. OOO is the core part of FCOM, it`s installed in a minute and you can`t do much wrong.

Honestly, almost of the juicy bits in FCOM comes from OOO. Maybe just use OOO? FCOM is still very much a beta, after all.

Pretty much this.

I've been holding off from playing Oblivion until this mod comes out. Despite how much time I've spent installing Oblivion mods, I haven't actually spent that much time playing Oblivion (lol). I'm looking forward to really starting once this mod comes out.

Well my "FCOM issue" is solved now - just after posting here it hit me I want to try one more thing in order to narrow down the culprit, and it worked.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1140643-please-help-me-not-again-a-100-reproducable-ctd-with-a-fresh-install/

So disabling Cobl′s Power Exhaustion fixed the crashing, the actual reason for the crash is probably a complex conflict with the scripts in Power Exhaustion and MMM.

I know, I should have just been writing the readme all this time, but you have no idea how much more motivated I′m now. I have been waiting myself to get to finally play the game, and I was starting to feel pretty disappointed getting instantly hit with a gamebreaking problem - but now it′s fixed! :D

Haha, small vibration. More like the beginnings of a massive explosion.

But in all seriousness, well done Sky Captain.

Just so everyone knows, there is a bug in NifSE - which DR6 is going to require. I'm sure Skycaptain'll give more details, but basically any changes to a Nif file that NifSE does only get saved once - when you load the save, it loads those changes correctly and then forgets about them, so they don't get re-saved later. Since DR6 only uses NifSE for the weapon throwing, this probably won't come into play - just make sure to retrieve your thrown weapon and you'll be fine. Even if you don't, it should probably just be some graphical weirdness, nothing game-breaking. Skycaptain should have specific instructions on how to avoid the situation in DR6.

Just watched the trailer...wow you've done some impressive work! I've never installed a significant combat overhaul, but this just about convinced me to try this out. It's too bad NPCs are just so clumsy to begin with. But great job with this.

Oh and the individual organs at the end were just nasty. :D

Man, that weapon throwing feature is so cool. I think it would be awesome if someone made some new weapons that are meant to be thrown, like shuriken. Small, light, weak damage, but you can buy em in bulk and they auto-reequip themselves after you throw one so you can keep spamming em. Damage based off marksman and blade, throwing em gives experience to both. That would be awesome.

If it really is coming out tonight, I better start a fresh Oblivion install.

No pressure if it's not Skycaptain, lol.

Heh, I′m still writing the Readme as last night I ended up deep in that bughunt I mentioned. But I think it takes a couple of hours to complete the readme, then I′m meaning to doublecheck stuff I thought of while writing the readme and unless I find a staggering last minute gamebreaking bug (pretty unlikely) I′m uploading. :)
