Deadly Reflex

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 1:49 am

Like title says, I know DR is about brutal swordplay, but I play mages and archers. Will it let my archer shoot from horseback or my mage use his staff to stab people?

Or is it only good for warriors?

Thanks.

I believe the new version will make headshots with a bow more effective and brutal. Currently, there are a few features related to archery such as shooting somebody in the sternum and watching them bleed out

Watch the trailers; Deadly Reflex has critical shots for archers and mages mainly. Otherwise, most of DR's features do focus on warriors and assassins. Its good that DR doesn't touch magic much since there are other good dedicated magic mods that already overhaul the magic system.

AFAIK there is no mod that offers horse archery (due to limitations) even DR6 won't which was a bummer for me. You can technically impale enemies that you knock to the ground with any weapon, I've done it a few times with my bow. It is mostly targeted at warriors and assassin types but you can get instant kills with a bow by a random chance of puncturing an enemies lung and you can occasionally get instant kills with magic so long as the spell does damage instantly rather than over seconds.

edit: double wammy ninja

For mages:

~Damage buff depending on the ESP you pick
~Enemies can dodge instead of walking blindly into your spells
~Watch you enemies freeze into a block of ice, burn to a crisp, and get thrown off their feet with spell critical hits
~Others that I kknow I am forgeting

For Archers:
~Watch your enemies bleed out
~Shoot them in the lungs
~Damage buff like above
~Now YOU can dodge and weave around arrows, spells, and attacks. I put this under Archers because they are more agile, which helps with dodging.

So I install DR5, from TesNexus (my chosen site for downloads) and extract/copy it all into the relevant places.

When I try to continue or start a new game, Oblivion crashes. It even crashes during loading animation some times.

I uninstalled everything that came with DR5 -- should I now look at doing DR4??

No. Ensure that you are properly installing DR5, that you have met the file requirements (OBSE), and that you have installed the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8273 (see the bottom of the files section).
