[WIP] Deadly Reflex-6

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:03 am

I got a question. If my character gets kicked down by an opponent, do I press a button to get up or just wait? My character seems to lie there forever and then get impaled.

I′m not gone, don′t worry, but there′s little progress to report I′m afraid - I was busy and tired with RL work before my three week vacation, and of that I only spent one short evening at home. Summer had to be about spending time abroad and on the countryside. ;)

Now I′m slowly getting back to normal schedule, and returning to work on the mod as well. So I′ll have more to post later this week, you′ll just have to trust me I′m getting this done, I′m finally feeling rested for the fist time in the whole year. :)

I've recently reformated my computer (with a x64 windows 7 this time :) ) and am about to start reinstalling obivion as well as modding it (I've taken a break since christmas) and this is all I'm waiting for to begin my next playthrough! Until this is finished, all I will be doing is playtesting and :brokencomputer: until this comes out! Can't wait! :obliviongate:

Welcome back, SkyCaptain ! Hopefully we`ll hear more from you during the next weeks. A lot of people are looking forward to a release of DR6.

I`m looking for help from one of the more experienced modders here regarding DR5. It`s quite a sample task, though. I would like to disable the "bind custom key" quest of DR, that pops up, when I start a new game and instead making DR always bind the keys I determined inside a script or config. So DR would just take the key bindings from the script, without asking me to bind them every time I start a new game.

Would someone know how to achieve that, for example be simply modifying a DR script?

Actually, I predict 2012 and just about the same amount of progress as right now.

DR5 has been great, no doubt, but for all I know that will be the end of it.

I find it rather amusing that people still are enthusiastic about DR6, after obviously having been stalled and brainwashed for so long.

Well considering he said a few posts back that he was continuing work on it there's a good chance we'll see it. As for saying he was brainwashing us and stalling that laughable his life doesn't revolve around catering to peoples desires for a mod and if it wasn't going to happen he would have told us or passed it on to someone capable of finishing it.

I′m actually really exited, for the last months (with the little time I have had for modding) I have had to fiddle with a small temp esp to figure out how to make a certain special feature to work correctly. Thus, the main plugin didn′t go forward at all, as this little piece of code was essential for the release of DR6.

Today, I finally worked it all out, and tonight I′m completing the actual feature in the main esp, the final one that′s really unfinished, and get to move on with checking random things or bugs, which is naturally the final step before release.

The time estimate is still weeks, cause I′m on a small vacation (last part of my summer vacation) next week, and I must complete a whole project at work next month, while at the same time my studies will continue.

But today′s breakthrough was huge, both feature and progress wise, all the frustration is gone and I′m moving eagerly forward. :foodndrink:

Sad to hear you think that way.

Try to mod (priority: 4), live a full life with another person (priority: 1), study (priority: 2) and work (priority: 3) at the same time, and you may see an alternative answer is also possible: there′s pretty limited time for the priority 4 stuff. But there′s a difference between going slow and stalling. ;)

You're leading a busy life - I salute you and hope you enjoy the way it is. But that is why in fact I'm also not expecting to ever see a DR6.
Far too many projects have crumbled because priorities in life were set. Others were half-way stitched up because that's simply what you get without enough time sacrificed.

If you think you can prove me otherwise, go ahead, I enjoy surprises in my life. But until then, DR5 was the end to it all, for me.

Man are you a downer

I don't see why anybody would expect DR6 to never be released. I can't wait for it

Hear, hear.

Version 5 was already a really good mod - It'll certainly be able to tide most people over until DR6, even if those mentioned weeks 'till release are measured in Valve Time.

A downer?

Some time ago, I thought about restarting with a new character. What I then typically do is bring all my mods in perfect order, to make sure I don't have to add or update mods during playing. (risky in my opinion)

The mood on DR's release back then was pretty much like "OMG it's gonna coem in a couple of weeks !!!1!" and so I waited for those couple of weeks. Because back then I was as optimistic as you are now.

That was more than half a year ago.

Yun, I like to keep my load order and Oblivion installation in perfect state, too (at the moment of writing those lines, I'm making a DVD backup of my mods and savegames), but that's not a reason for being as moron as you're being. Skycaptain has dedicated hundreds of hours creating a mod that is like "Counter-Strike for Oblivion" (that is, totally essential) out of pure altruism. He doesn't deserve that by far.

I'm eager to see DR6, too, and I even agree it should be renamed to "Deadly Reflex'Nuked Forever", but please...try to avoid being an ass ;) And stay with 5 while you wait (as I'm doing).

Some mods do that, but still get released.

I remember that around one and a half years ago, Nehrim announced that it was completely finished.
It came out 2 months ago.
