Deadric Shrine discussion

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:02 pm

even tough i love sheogorath. i don't think we should see a shrine for him. because as manye people remenber sheogorath didn't really existed, it was jiggalag with a curse, so yea.. who would be sheogorath this time, by what i remenber, our character could be the prince of madness but certainly we we'rent daedric princes, meaning that 200 years in the future we would be dead and the shivering isles realm would slowly lose its existance on oblivion...*sniff*

We inherited a certain degree of Daedric power though. If the player stayed in the Shivering Isles, frequently used the Daedric magic, and assumed the role of Sheogorath, it is definitely not too farfetched to say that the player would eventually become Sheogorath. As a matter of fact, it is very likely that that would happen.

Talos and possibly Arkay were mortals who became Aedra, so makes a lot of sense.

As the post below says, it was a statue of Mara. :)

That is a fantastic idea. And no. It's 17 now. There were 16 princes, but since Sheogorath and Jyggy have became separate it makes it 17.

  • Azura
  • Boethia
  • Clavicus Vile
  • Hermaus Mora
  • Hircine
  • Malacath
  • Mehrunes Dagon
  • Mephala
  • Meridia
  • Molag Bal
  • Namira
  • Nocturnal
  • Peryte
  • Sanguine
  • Sheogorath
  • Vaermina
  • And now Jyggalag.

I wonder if Jyggy has got himself a new "realm" now. Considering the new Sheogorath rules of the Shivering Isles (which used to be Jyggy's realm) Can Daedric Princes just create realms willy nilly? I know Dagon gave a pocket realm to Mankar Camoran but that would still be technically part of the deadlands.

Edit* Had a bit of a brain mess up on the number of princes.

Jyggalag has always had his own realm, he was just in Sheogorath's while he was Sheogorath. So the OB pc has that realm and Jygg has his own realm again.

make them more secretive, and have proper cults surrounding them. Have some underground in caves, some surrounded by thick woodland.. some lost completely, and there are people searching for it you can join the search as a branch of side quests.

Wait, wasnt teh whole point with the Greymarch for Jyggy to regain cobtrol of his realm and make it "boring", as Sheogorath would say?

I like the Daedra quests. Though I'd prefer less, like in Morrowind - they seemed a lot harder to find/more fun to complete, but with them all in I guess I can't really complain. I also want the voices of the original Azura, Boethia and Mephala...

How about we just use Maiq the liar as sheogoraths image? Haha. On a serious note, I think the Daedra worship shouldnt be as prominent in Skyrim. I mean as open. I never knew about the hermaeous mora shrine until I got lost in the mountains.

I hope they come up with some Daedra lord sphere based quests, certain Oblivion ones just felt a tad generic to me.

Side topic: I hope the churches to the Aedra are included as well, not heavily based on the gods themselves.
Just a nod that they hold some influence on peoples minds as well.

Would be nice to have the shrines look better. In Oblivion most of them consisted of one statue of the daedric prince and a few benches and a lectern just dropped in a random place in the open. If people feared them so much it would make more sense if they were inside somewhere. Like that shrine to Sheogorath in one of the Vivec sewers in Morrowind.

Yes the ones in Morrowind was better. Also hard to stay outdoor all day in the cold in Skyrim.

The Imperials don't worship Daedra either, but they were all over Cyrodiil. It's not like the Daedric shrines were Imperial sanctioned worship sites. Daedra are made out to be the "bad gods," so they're worshiped in secrecy (for the most part).

Would not call Azura bad, but in Oblivion they followers was odd cultists.

If you're suggestion that we should get something more along the lines of the Daedric shrines in Morrowind, which is to say, having them located inside dungeons rather than just throwing them in a random location in the wilderness, than I agree. The Daedric ruins were nice and I'd like to see them return. They don't need to look exactly the same, of course, as long as they still get the same basic point across.

Definitely gonna return. Hopefully we get a Dagon shrine this time, I bet he is still pretty pissed about the whole Oblivion thing.

http://images.uesp.net//b/bc/OB-Img-DagonShrine.jpg You broke into it during the main quest, remember? You couldn't do a quest for him, but that makes total sense since he was the main antagonist of the game. There's no reason why the PC couldn't do a quest for him in Skyrim though, so we'll probably get that.

i agree in a way but not for all of them, i mean having sheogoraths shrine in the middle of a big dungon, just to do comical quest, all though my initial thought says WORTH IT! i then think doing all that for wabbajack or similar is pretty over the top, although that would suit him.
whereas find a group of blood crazed mehrunes worshippers trying to summon the biggest daedra possible and killing alot of people, isnt something i want to be very easy to find like stumbling across hircine's shrine in OB..
on another note if werewolves make it into SKyrim they got to do something big for Hircine, otherwise it will bring a slight dissapointment, admitedly one easily overcome by the though of.. I CAN BE A WEREWOLF

It would be nice to see Daedric Shrines return, hopefully with more discretion this time around, unless the Nords tolerate such stuff. A Hircine DLC with werewolves (unless they are already in the game) would be great, and I'd want to work for Jyggalag. It would also be nice if we could get some abilities upon completion of our favours for Daedric Princes, such as a spell to summon their favoured Daedra or a blessing related to their element or something.

I will be very disappointed if they are not there. I hope there is a shrine to Hircine, he would fit well in this setting.

I really hope as many Daedric Shrines as possible will be in Skyrim, they were among my favourite quests in Oblivion. But I'd also like to see some of the Nine Divines be a bit more present, maybe have altars in chapels where they give you quests or something like that. I felt in Oblivion and Morrowind they seemed a little colorless and boring compared to the Daedra. No wonder everybody goes off worshipping the Daedra instead of them. They definitely need to be more exciting.

Getting a quest at the Chapel of Akatosh, while on a mission to kill Alduin, the mind boggles, I hope it's in.

Jyggalag has always had his own realm, he was just in Sheogorath's while he was Sheogorath. So the OB pc has that realm and Jygg has his own realm again.

I would think Boethiah would know more about his fellow prince! The Shivering Isles was Jyggy's realm. That was the entire main plot of the expansion. Jyggy coming back to reclaim his realm. -As far as I know we don't know what Jyggy once called his realm-

"Enough! I am beaten. The Greymarch is ended. For millennia this drama has unfolded, and each time, I have conquered this land, only to be transformed back into that gibbering fool, Sheogorath. It was not always so. Once, I ruled this Realm, a world of perfect Order. My dominion expanded across the seas of Oblivion with each passing era. The other Princes, fearful of my power, cursed me with Madness, doomed me to live as Sheogorath, a broken soul reigning in a broken land. Once each era, I was allowed my true form, conquering this world anew. And each time I did, the curse was renewed, damning me to exist as Sheogorath. Now, though, you have ended the cycle. You now hold the mantle of madness, and Jyggalag is free to roam the voids of Oblivion once more. I will take my leave, and you will remain here, mortal. Mortal...? King? God? It seems uncertain. This Realm is yours. Perhaps you will grow to your station. Fare thee well, Sheogorath, Prince of Madness. - Jyggalag

The second part I bolded is why I wonder what is going to happen to him. And why I wonder if Princes can just create new realms within the wastes of Oblivion.
He says the realm is now yours. It belongs to you. You are now the ruler of a plane of Oblivion. If that doesn't mean he/she eventually becomes Sheogorath I don't know what would. They obviously couldn't make you a full-on daedric prince in Oblivion because you wouldn't have been able to re-enter Cyrodiil.
